So I have recently developed what I think is a bone spur on the back of my right heel, making certain shoes pretty uncomfortable to wear in that area. Anyone had one of these before? Are they treatable? Will I ever wear double monks again?
Go to a good podiatrist and get an assessment and advice on all things foot and shoe.
A GP will only know so much and a surgeon will have a bias to action and cutting.
Depending where you live people will recommend good podiatrist who also know about proper shoes. PM me if you like.
All people who have more than passing fetish with shoes should spend time at a podiatrist before going too far.
I almost bought a suit from Joe Black until I discovered Azzaro. I think they make a pretty good product and the sales assistance who looked after me at the time was quite knowledgable.
By the time I made it to the Rhodes and Beckett sale they only had green pocket squares left, all the purble/lilac/blue ones had long gone. So for $9 I splashed out and got it anyway. It will work with some of my suits/ties but I MUST HAVE MORE POCKET SQUARES!
I picked up 3 the other day at an opshop - one thin Hermes light coloured multi pattern silk = $1
One double sided silk v thick different pattern, black and white embroidered long stripes on one side of a basic deep shiney burgundy - other side black and white dots. Very nice heavy but small = $0.50
Another one thin self patterned dullish silk deep burgundy = $0.50.
Noice - but a bit summery and they need white socks.
Perhaps this is the foolishness of youth but I dress for the day rather than the season and today was absolutely lovely.
I'm very interested by the white socks suggestion as the only white socks I have are for sports. I was thinking light grey or tan but didn't want to push it on their first outing. I can also report that these are easily the most commented on clothing item I've ever worn.

I did some poking around a couple of local opshops recently looking for some pocket squares – the issue I have is that I can’t tell the difference between silk and polyester. I thought it would be obvious, until I picked up a couple of quite soft squares that I liked only to see a tag exclaiming 100% polyester. Any tips fxh on spotting real silk?

I agree re the day - nothing like white pants on a sunny winters day with brown suede chukkas and big khaki jacket.
Not sports short socks - yuck - I have OTC horizontal ribbed white.
The only thing that worries me with those pants is that - one day you'll be cruising the web, look at some tumblr and see a Pitti/Thornbury hipster like iGentt wearing that shade of blue pants , rolled up, with velvet bedroom slippers and NO SOCKS! And you'll be in a weak moment or drunk and think "Fuck yeah - I could do that - tomorrow".
