Thanks for the heads up on this. I went and had a look -- picked up the burgundy knit tie with the thin navy stripes (really nice, I love it) and one of the burgundy pocket squares with the sort of houndstoothy pattern. Pretty sweet for $42 all told :slayer:

Well done. I went into their Sydney (Westfireld) Store and saw that tie. Very nicely matte and a good weight. In Sydney they had it full priced at $100. They only had a very small selection of ties on special for $70 and the only knit was a very shiny Papal purple. PSs were all full priced.

Discrimination.

Speaking of ties...

I was in Pitt Street the other day when I came across something which I had thought had only existed in legend - or the fevered ramblings of the infirm or intoxicated. Yet there it was in front of me on a perfectly ordinary Sydney street.

And it was utterly horrible...

Truthfully, I struggled fro a moment just to retain my composure.

Ok dickheads, which one of you was being a creep on the train just moments ago?

To me silk knits are more Summer than Winter especially the looser knits. Unless of course you're talking about thick wool or cashmere knits which is definitely winter (that stuff is way warm).

Sighting last night in Bank Place doorway, in a fedora? Anyone? Could be my imagination or just increased awareness but I seem to be spotting more well dressed blokes about lately.

cool,

i was thinking of something like this in silk for my sisters wedding in January

I think a knit is fine in summer or winter, so season is not a problem. I wonder, though, whether that tie is too informal for your sister's wedding.

I wore a tie like that in acqua to a wedding earlier in the year - but I knew it was going to be a very informal wedding and that I was one of the few guests to wear a tie.

But you would know what the vibe is goint to be.

C'mon, 'fess up. Black cap oxfords that doesn't look like its from Zara, blue gingham shirt, shiny red and navy knit tie, pocket square, what appears to be black faced military style watch with brown leather strap, pocket square.

Now I know there is a use for my used ties!

I can see that dress being quite useful on a dinner date. You see if you spill soup on your own tie you can just subtly pinch one of hers and do a swap. It's really a great sartorial convenience.

I saw half vest made of ties recently, god only knows what the fool was thinking and a friend just sent this to me.

Breaking News!
Valmour in France now also ship Saphir Medaille D'Or products ( shoe polish and conditioners etc. ) with the option of choosing normal mail instead of international courier.
It works out to be very reasonable - just under 5 Euros to ship two 100ml tins of Saphir Medaille D'Or Pate Deluxe to Australia.

John Lobb shoe polish is apparently rebranded Saphir Medaille D'Or.
