I was in the Chaddy RL store yesterday. Right now they are doing an extra 30% off all red-spot sale items. I saw a pair of black loafers (made in USA) discounted to $200, amongst other stuff.

There should be a few knit ties and they were sent down from the factory outlet in Sydney

Not that anyone needs me to stand up for them. But that is not my point, nor do I mean to have a go. I am just bored of people saying you need do this or you have to do that, and these are THE rules. Better to phrase it as "In my opinion, he would look better if..." or "I would have..." instead of hard and fast rules with no flexiblity for individuality and personal style. Treat any rules as guidelines. I am sure I am guilty of stressing "rules" in the past too.

Anyway... I cannot make it to the Herringbone sale until possibly Wednesday, if at all. I do not really need anything, saving for a trip to P Johnson Tailors but am looking for a small favour. Can any of you nice Melbourne SFers who are going let me know if there are any knit ties (with colours and prices) available? It would be appreciated, happy hunting.

You're wasting your breath. Experience tells us there are only two ways to dress: The Wraith way or the wrong way.....

Anyone else pay to see Prince of Paisley and The Wraith in a tightly furled umbrella duel? Or maybe a style off like the Sapeurs of Bacongo (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/6...Bacongo.html)?

and Blahman, you would probably be doing my bank balance a favour but let me know if you leave any knit ties behind.

Nice to see opposing opinions to the followers in this thread are still treated with respect

It's to be expected, I suppose.

The Wraith - I did hesitate and consider my post and it was not intended to be an attack on you or anyone else.

Just expressing my opinion that opinions not rules are what we should be trading here. There are a range of experienced menswear aficionados and chaps just starting to dip their (oxford-clad) toes into the style pool here. People should be comfortable expressing and experimenting to find a personal style not ticking off a checklist of rules laid down by someone else. Apologies if my comments caused any offence.

Hi all, i'm obviously new and i'm just wondering about the demographics for Aussie SFers. Like what kind of work you're in, if you're studying and which cities you live in, and what you think of the general culture of your respective cities?

Sorry for detracting from the general conversation.

As for me, I'm just a second year usyd student, and honestly i can not wait to leave Sydney, and Australia for that matter for good.

It's not your opinion which is the problem. It's the presenting of your opinions as immutable truths which offends.

Tone your posts down a few notches on the arrogance scale and you'll start getting a bit more respect for your "opinions".

Hey mate!

This place is a mixed bag! I'm 26 in advertising in Sydney

I enjoy Sydney as it has everything I want. Mates, family and beaches.

You cant wait to leave Australia? Good riddance. Why are you still here?

You forgot to mention the women (and men).

Couldn't have said it better, Prince.

When one throws out a challenge like - He 'needs' to - then challenged it invariably will be; especially if it's purely subjective.

I find the women (and men) of poor quality and taste in Melbourne. I'd rather shop elsewhere for them if I can.

Mate, you're in the Aussie thread.

What did you think would happen when you threw out the above statement (in bold) to one and all here?

Not a good idea eh?
