It is this thread, the temptations it mentions can be hard to ignore...My fault for bring up suede boots?

Yes, Pink Socks, it was all your fault - after all, you held a gun to my head and made me press the 'Buy' button smile.gif

I'm sure you guys have stronger wills!

For what it's worth, I'm still very very happy with the shoes I have and definitely don't need these to fill in any holes in the collection, that's for sure - I still believe that the other shoes I have can pretty much cover any situation I'm likely to be in.

Only because you asked nicely smile.gif I got a pair of C&J Chilterns - snuff suede chukkas on a Dainite sole. The Florsheim dark brown suede chukkas I currently have are too close to the Tetbury. I'll have two different coloured chukkas and three colours of C&J suede - snuff, expresso and tobacco all on different lasts.

THE future of The Perfume Connection is uncertain, after the fragrance chain racked up losses of nearly $20 million in the past five years and its recent decision to close a fifth of its stores failed to counter the shift to online shopping and rising shopping centre rents.

Owned by an arm of Melbourne's Smorgon family, the private owners of Perfume Connection have unsuccessfully sought buyers for the struggling retailer, BusinessDay can reveal, and are working on plans to close more stores in coming months as well as slim down its corporate headquarters.

The specialty perfume retailer, which once had 64 stores around Australia and ambitions to quickly raise that to 120, has shut down 15 stores over the past 18 months.

Its possible demise would add to the list of casualties in the nation's retail sector, which is in the midst of the most arduous trading conditions in decades.

According to ASIC documents The Perfume Connection booked a loss of $9.53 million in 2010-11, up from a loss of $3.47 million in the previous financial year. Over the same period revenue for the retail chain sank to $56.7 million from $66 million, a slide of 14 per cent. It booked losses of $4.2 million in 2009 and $526,311 in 2008.

Escor chief executive Barry Fradkin said the fragrance category had been challenging for many Australian retailers due to booming online sales as well as parallel importers such as discount pharmacy chains bringing in large volumes of cheap product into the market through non-traditional wholesale channels.

^^ My Chemist Retail Group has something to do with that. The Perfume Connection is stale. They do not offer anything that are not being offered by the pharmacies or any of the department stores at all.

Not sure if I have already mentioned this, but I am off to the US West Coast next week; LA, Vegas and SF. Any tips or suggestions of things I should be on the look out for?

It's a shame you can't go to NYC. That place is amazing.

Is it worth seeing the guys at P.Johnson if I'm only in Melbourne for 3 days?

Also, "business casual" dress codes can go die. It's either business, or casual.
Why not? The only thing you'll need to think about is how you'll do the fitting once anything you order is ready. I'd give Tom and Jen a buzz.

Hey Prof, I think it's worth seeing them just for the experience.
