Tiny dude w/ ridiculous-looking cornrows/braids who had obviously had some plastic surgery. He was dressed in the style of a Glaswegian NED - track suit and trainers. I let out a hearty "Axl, my man!" and he almost jumped out of his skin.....

While Axl's voice will always be a source of contention, just listen to the entire song, "There was a time" for example. The arrangements are way beyond anything commercially out there in rock. It's really that good, time will tell.

I've only heard the song "better", and for the most part I enjoyed that song. Really I can't say much about the album as a whole, and certainly it isn't a return to Appetite or anything like that.

Whether it's good or not, I'll argue that it is likely to be some of the better stuff you'd hear on a standard radio rock station (wayyy better than disturbed, godsmack, 3 days grace, etc), but still it's never going to be a triumph in music.

Honestly an unreleased album that comes out wayyy past the time it would of been significant is usually uninteresting, unless you're a die-hard fan.

Use smile as an example, a beach boys album that never saw the light of day until old brian wilson released it under his own name, which makes it "different" in a sense.

Honestly though, if someone said there was a secret pinkfloyd album recorded around the time of Dark Side of the Moon, or Meddle, I'd be alllll over that ****.

I just enjoy it because it represents someone who madly followed their vision as an artist moreso then prepackaged, demographically marketed canned music that proliferates today's music scene.

CD is grand, epic, genius and insanity all rolled into one. You have to listen to the entire album at least 3 times to get an idea of the incredible scope of what is essentially a solo album. The album is genius!

Here's the entire album:

I was never a big fan to begin with. But for some reason I was hoping this was going to be good. I think it's quite bad. The problem is the songwriting. I'm all for more progressive arrangements, but that doesn't help a weak song. I think it would've been good to have just put out a more straight forward rock record. What seems like an effort to be modern already sounds dated in terms of production.

So basically, Axl Rose heard the theme song to "Beverly Hills 90210" and thought, "Hmmmm, if I wait 15 years and release it as a song called 'Chinese Democracy', nobody will remember."

Ungh, his voice is unspeakably grating throughout the entire album.

I'm sure none of this will make any difference to the true believers who seem to think he's some Rock'n'Roll Moses who will deliver rock music into the 21st Century.

Hey, I am well graduated from high school, it's just my living circumstances have severely inhibited my ability to make a convincing analogy.

At least I didn't say this:

WEAK. It's like Sgt. Peppers if it crashed into the face of an ugly girl. i.e. he tried to be innovative like sgt peppers was for the beatles, but failed horribly like a fugly girl.

Pretty good for a comeback album. I mean, the sound/feel are out-dated, only because it mostly sounds like old GNR, but he did a good job with many of the songs. IRS rocks pretty hard.
