Reading this forum has much enhanced my sartorial knowledge (my colleagues now think I'm crazy when I discuss the aesthetics of the line widths on dress shirts). Just want to thank everyone for their contributions. It's a bit early, but as my wardrobe is lacking in lightweight outerwear, I was planning on picking up a jacket or coat or two sometime soon. I have a field jacket in taupe, but was thinking of something classy such as this coat: http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatPr...._Id=202 Barbour makes a somewhat similar 3/4 coat in cotton which you can find at http://www.coatsandhats.com/cat2_1.htm. (Incidentally, I just found a deal on Barbour duffle coat--they make great outerwear.) Would I better off with a casual sport coat or other a coat that would work for both fall and winter?

I typically wear light weight lambskin blazers in the spring, unless it is wet, in which case, I wear an anorak style jacket.

HAHA... What is lambskin like? Is it like a suede? More of a calfskin? I bought a lightweight overcoat at APC about a week ago, and it's beautiful. It's like a standard wool overcoat, but made of cotton. Black, single breast, hidden button placket, notched lapels, single vent, 3/4 length. It has an amazing silhouette. Dan

I'm thinking either the Rogan jean-style jacket on Bluefly or a slim double-breasted knee-length trench coat from Zara. APC had a terrific streamlined sort of safari jacket about a month ago, but I didn't see it the last time I stopped by.

I love this jacket, but I just can't bring myself to pay the retail price for it:

Zegna jacket

I really like that jacket also, in addition to a couple other Zegna jackets I have seen.

Get yourself a Unis jacket. The fit is great, retail is low, and way, way cooler than Zegna. Also try something by APC - they always have good choices.
This is looking so very appealing.

I just picked up a Unis jacket at Filene's Basement for $75 (-25 from rewards card) from the fall winter season (www.unisnewyork.com, Fall winter 2004, the jacket in pictures 5 and 8 in color in picture 9). Will do great for spring (way too cold to wear it now). Great APC hoodie too, Brian. Anyone wishing to donate to the keep L.A. Guy cool (or warm?) fund is welcome to PM me and make donations towards the purchase of that hoodie. Pique cotton sounds like an awesome take on an oldie but goodie.

Yes, that is what I was thinking, about the Pique. I'll start a foundation too, but this one is called "Buy Brian SD's sex to keep him warm." We'll see who gets more custo... er, donations.

Hmm.. may need to add that pique thing to my order. I seem to remember a similar sweatshirt from Lacoste a few years back but I don't remember if it was a hooded one. Anyone know how these fit?

I would imagine fairly slim, like most APC stuff. 1 corresponds to small, 2 to medium, etc. I'm a 36 and I would order a 1. Generally, their stuff fits very nicely, but it is fitted. Dan

APC fit is classic, in a sense. Neither tight, nor baggy. Lacoste fit seems to be cut about 1 size too large (making it really sucky for us smalls. well, not that I would be buying Lacoste anyway). I don't know that I've ever seen a hooded cotton pique sweater before, and I am always way up in the hoodie news. I've never seen Unis in person but i've heard of them before and I hear their hoodies are very nice as well.

j., I'm warning you, don't be completely copying my style, or the Triad will be there before your APC order arrives. Just cause you're administrator and all doesn't mean that I can't sned a legion of Chinese Ninja to your doorstep, pronto. Listen, just PM me $50, and we'll be cool. Ah, between that, and what shoreman owes me, I'm over halfway to the hoodie. BTW, check these out: http://www.apc.fr/us/en/fiche_articl...f=1C014515229H Now that is pretty cool.
