I was going to call it something else but "Fok's Sunday Morning Teatime Chat About Clothes and Unicorns" seemed kinda long.

Hi Ghulkhan, Great question and it's actually 3 part. 1. I am extremely picky when it comes to quality garments, and KZO is working with an amazing production team in Tokyo. So when it comes to the quality that is demanded, they nail it. So made in Japan. 2. Japanese team in H.K. work with high-end Japanese and European collections. 3. And lastly, we are making all of our tee's for S/S 09 and beyond, in Tennessee, at this really great old factory. They are going to be a really unique 22 single southern cotton. Made in USA. KZO's team is extremely small, but we are a small group industry vets and to me, less is always more.

On that site, all your garments are listed as being made in china. So the stuff is actually made in japan?

Hi Ghulkhan, Yes, you are correct. For those specific pieces they are made in China, with an amazing Japanese run factory. For other pieces (denim, etc...) and the future, a lot more will be made in Japan. If you have any really specific questions, please feel free to PM me anytime.

Hi Raulishere, Thanks. Glad that you like the KZO + Unholy Matrimony Piece. The flannel Brett is wearing is upcoming for S/S 09. The new piece has outdoor zippers and also a hidden pocket in the back yoke. You can also see another photo of it here.

Hello Ctrlaltelite, Thank you. The cobalt blue jacket is from the S/S 09 collection; is a long, soft nylon "mods-coat," mesh lined, and can be "packable" (turned into a a small bag) for stuffing into your bag, camping, etc... There's a small photo of it below as a bag.

I got a KZO hat earlier this fall, the "Insight" satin military cap. I didn't really see this until I got it, but the back (and the picture from Revolve, where I got it, doesn't show the detail clearly, is pleated in an accordian style, much like a slouchy beanie. Coal did something similar in their FW07 knit hats, as have several other, much more expensive brands. Was the slouchy beanie your inspiration for this design, or the fallen over military caps (after much use and the felt has lost its shape?), or something else altogether? Fok.
Hi Fok, Just want to again thank you again for the "designer's series" opportunity with Style Forum. The "slouchy beanie" inspiration is a design feature that we have been running with since our first season, and that is "french-darts." (pants, woven shirts, jackets, sweaters, etc...). Obviously, on the hat it can be argued that it is also "pleated," but it's giving it more of a fit than an oversized boxy hat. The original comes from a WWII military hat, and it was tied in the back, like shoe laces, but I wanted to update that, as well as the fabric. I think that the slouchy, fallen over, military cap that your are referring to is similar to the American Civil War? I thought about doing that too but in many ways, it's been done and in addition, the KZO hat was created to fit into our first S/S 09 theme. Another photo of it here:
