Looks like shoes my dad would wear to mow the lawn.

From the 2011 Red Wing collection, I've taken a liking to them:

No.

Then I thought I might buy a pair of tan wingtips, then I went back to looking for something suede. I considered chukkas, but I can't see myself wearing ankle boots.

Bottom line - I think I've narrowed it down to three.
  1. 1.

  2. 2.

  3. 3.

I think any one of these could fill a niche in my shoe wardrobe (I don't have any suede) and still be versatile enough to be worn with just about everything I own. They're all Alden, and all just about the same price.

What's your first reaction to all three?

I like the first two. I myself would probably go with the first pair though.

Here are some pics of #2 I think which may help:

Exactly, but his mind isn't advanced enough to realize that just yet.

I really want a pair of these, but won't pay retail. I keep finding other F + B shoes and boots on discount, but have yet to see these anywhere on sale. EDIT: Does the way the leather on top kinda flaps out like it does make them ever awkward to wear with your pants leg over them?
