Not sure what you mean? The way they mold to ones feet?

no i tried on the 988 backzips, and although they were comfy, i couldnt get into the look

what does that have to do with rfx's derby? looks great to me.

I feel the backzip is pretty different from the derby and the lace-up boots. The derby (992) and boots (995 I believe) I have are also much easier to pull off. I mean look, Guidi with APC. lol8[1].gif

I'd suggest trying one of those on before writing off the whole brand.

Lurk on yoox and take advantage of the return policy. There are some random brands that might surprise you.

Alternatively, save a little more and watch gilt for mid tier stuff like N.D.C.

Frank Wright shoes...even worth the cheap price or will they just fall apart?

If no to the first one, any suggestions for a sub $200 pair of ankle high boots or chukka? I've looked at Clarks but I'm just not a huge fan. I like the styling of the JV Star USA Chukka but I know the quality isn't worth it.

^^posted same time as above, going to check out those as well.

Lookin for some new f/w boots for jeans along these lines (some brogue detail or otherwise on a basic laceup. Id prefer a cleaner look than some of the chunky Redwing GT,etc....any preferences/suggestions?

AE Bayfield

Wolverine 1k mile Winchester;

Leaning to the wolverines, but not sure if theres anything better out there <$400. (FWIW, the Trickers Stowe is too orange and the oversized broguing bothers me, same w/ Grenson)

Hey not sure if this was ever polled anywhere but is there a consensus on what is the best size leg opening for jeans when wearing boots like Redwing (i.e. Gentlemen's Traveler), Thorogood, White's, Wesco, etc? I know this is a matter of personal taste but I do think that for narrower jeans look more awkward with workboots.

If you like AE, take a look at the Dalton brogue.
