The cole haans look decent, at least their design. I'm looking for a similar pair.

I rarely wear sneakers any more, which kinda sucks since I have a closet full. But I have a nice stack of boots and shoes that do get rotated through regularly.

John Varvatos 'Hipster' Chukka Boot are my newest acquisition. So comfy.

Also recently scored a nice pair of cheapy purple suede loafers by Steve Madden. They were on clearance at Macy's for $20. How could I leave them? Couldn't!

The boots getting the most foot time are my trusty DMs.
20-year-old 1460 10-lace oxbloods.
15-year-old 1460 8-lace greens.
5-year-old 1460 8-lace blacks.
10-year-old 1461 blacks.
Black and white wing tips.
Brown wing tips.

I hate to admit it, but my fiance bought me some Rainbow flip flops...and well hell...they are ridiculously comfortable.

I'm really itching to get some Clark's desert boots.

And thanks to SF I am now obsessed with getting a pair of Barker Black wing tips...

here's a Guidi lace up boot with the double heel and sole. Leather is full grain horse.

they are bed stu post boots. has anyone seen these in person? i've heard that bed stu is pretty average quality (but im guessing they are better than cole haan),... these are goodyear welted and veg tanned. cheapest price i can find is $184 (mintshoesonline.com) or $200 at nordstroms... i'm australian so i have no idea whether its easy to get discounts there i dont like the white stuff they put on the black version, but i think i read that this is just a powder or a wax that can be cleaned off...can anyone confirm this?

Trickers will soon be coming out with a high lace (a couple inches higher than their standard) logger boot in a waxy brown calfskin. I think it will be quite nice, and much more affordable.

The best though are Carol Christian Powell, Augusta, Guidi, the like...

Alright... not really feeling the narrow ankle profile of brogue toe boots Looking for something like the JV Six O' Sixes but for $200-300... any ideas? I kinda like these, but I'm looking for something a little more reddish-brown

I've seen those H By Hudson Angus' opened up though and I think they might be for me... but I'm open to something else w/a more square ankle + loose leather

Anyone have suggestions for a simple, dark-brown shoe to wear with jeans? Probably a plain toe blucher or similar? They should be nice enough to wear out to the bars with both jeans and mid-grey slacks.

I'm not a big fan of boots.

Basic Quality option - Allen Edmonds Leeds (or AE MacNeil) in dark brown from Land's End (available on both the regular and Canvas line sites). There may be a 25% off plus free shipping code floating around, so look into the Land's End threads. 25% off should put it around $260 or so. I own both of these shoes, although not in dark brown. Leeds is a plaintoe blucher, MacNeil is a longwing.

Better - RL/Polo Dartlon/Marlowe wingtip or plaintoe blucher in brown shell cordovan. Retail - I think it's $795 these days for the brown shell option, and the supply might be spotty. But it's a great, great, great shoe for jeans. The Darlton/Marlowe wingtip in brown shell is my dress casual favorite for jeans and gets heavy wear in the rotation; shell is easy to care for and the sole is a fairly durable double leather sole.

Other ideas: Alden All Weather Walker (crepe sole with a leather toe tip on the sole); Alden Barrie Wingtip or PTB, Tricker's Bourton. I have none of these, but they get good reviews.

Dressy options - I wear the Tricker's Marlow (pebble grained dress plaintoe blucher on a more chiseled last) almost as frequently as my Darlton/Marlowe Wingtip.

Also, consider a monkstrap if you want something dressier. I wear a reddish brown Grenson Anniversary monkstrap with jeans every now and then.

Unfortunately, I started trying the Leeds (and LOVE them), but they just don't fit my feet properly. I've tried multiple AE lasts and sizes, and none of them work.

So, I'm stuck looking at other brands.

I should also mention that I'd like to keep these under $300, preferably under $200 if possible.
