These will definitely be more than "Just Winter Boots". They will get year round use. Plus I live in Dallas...so the winter here is like Spring in Canada.

But this is the look I'm going for this winter.

if you can get by with just a knit, then it's hardly "winter"

also, who the hell buys suede shoes for winter?

I suppose you have to assume that eventually Aldo will start to sell some nice looking stuff as new things become so mainstream and things like square toes get to the point where even the mainstream hates them.

Aldo's Mr B line comes out with a decent looking no frills chelsea boot and it's only available in the UK ffffuuuu.gif
Do I have any options for a nice slim chelsea (or side zip) boot for under $200?

I guess I'm just used to snowy/salty northeast winters that would destroy suede pretty quick.

Damn, those Aldo's look really nice. It's a shame I've heard such lousy things about the label. That's a fairly good price....

They're actually Crockett & Jones. He was pictured inside the September 2011 issue of Esquire Magazine UK wearing them. (I own the issue) They named the designer for everything he was wearing. He's wearing the exact same outfit in the magazine that he's wearing in this photo. In fact this photo may have been taken as he was going to/ leaving the shoot.

They appear to be an older model called the Crockett & Jones field boot...as they don't currently appear on their website.
