Thinking of purchasing a boot in the coming days... torn between Katahdin Iron Works, Red Wing ( J Crew ) Beckman, Red Wing Chukka, and Lifestyle Moc...
Worn a couple of days a week, lots of commuting/walking around campus so comfort is equally as import as aesthetics... partial to a distressed kind of brown that can go well with rlue as well as black denim ...not the yellowish sort of brown, which is too attention-grabbing IMO ...
Sorry brain fart, the suede bucks/saddle/or longwings priced at 200-300. I just think I need some of that suede swag this fall as its casual enough to wear with jeans but nice enough to suit up with.
Quality is very good -- I've been really happy with them. I went ahead and picked up a number of their different color combos and the suede longwings. They make the Made In China Bass bucks look pretty bad in terms of construction quality and general feel. They're not Alden level quality but then again they're not priced that way either.

Some good, basic chukka boots from Red Tape, India:
I bought the dark brown chukkas for $35, over two years ago. Didn't expect it, but they've been through slush and sand and rain and puddles, yet still look good and are my go-to pair every time I pair jeans with a plain shirt.
Anyone have pics of WW2 Roughouts with jeans with smaller leg openings? Around 7 to 7/12 inches. I've only seen them with LVCs and was wondering how they'd look on something like Weird Guys. Also, does anyone know if they are slippery in the rain or wet concrete? Edited by INeedSpeed - 10/4/11 at 3:53pm
