New York songs.

Around this time of year I have a Bobby Short jag, for some reason. His 'Songs of New York' album is so wonderful. Almost every track is fantastic. The intro to 'East Side of Heaven'(?) by Bucky Pizzerelli is sublime. I'd love to see him at the Carlyle some day, if he still plays regular nights.... Also, New York related songs I like include LCD Sound System's New York I love You (but you're bringing me down), various Lou Reed, Tony Bennett, Sinatra, Pogues, Waits tracks. What would others recommend for my diet in this period? Edit: Can't believe I forgot 'I happen to like New York' by Mr Short. Short yet so emotive. The only place I have found it is at the start of Manhattan Murder Mystery (Woody). If anyone has seen it anywhere else, please post....

New York, New York by Tha Dogg Pound (Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Daz Dillinger, Nate Dogg)

When I think of New York this song pops in my head for whatever reason.

Brit--Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Bobby Short died in 2005. Great performer.

'Shattered' - Rolling Stones

The entire 'Some Girls' is an ode to NYC during a pretty rough time in the city's history.
