Bands you initially wrote off, but now like

Ever have a band that you initially wrote off for a dumb reason without really listening to their music, then listened to them years later and found you really loved the music? Relatively recently, Jamiroquai, who I thought was some one-hit-wonder from around 2000 because Virtual Insanity was super popular, then I never heard from them again, is fucking awesome. George Michael is another artist I never gave a chance until about a year ago, mostly because I remember "I want your sex" from growing up, and now I found he's actually a great singer. edit: oh shit yeah, I forgot about both Rush and Genesis.

I was somewhere recently where they had the Sweet's "Fox on the Run' blasting - I have to say that I quite enjoyed it.....

George Michael has some great head-bopping tunes. As for "great singer"...

Creed
Steely Dan
Electric Light Orchestra

As pretentious or fake you might call these bands, they do know how to write some catchy, fun to listen to stuff.

Bright Eyes. He had the gall to perform in my area and stop in the middle of the show to launch into a tirade about how he was surprised Texans could find time in between being racist and raping Indians to come to his show.

When I heard about that I wrote him off for a long time, but then a friend played me some stuff off of Digital Ash and I loved it.

Arcade Fire. I initially wrote them off as talentless, but now...Well, they're still talentless but wrote a few catchy tunes.

The Dave Matthews Band. They've been around forever and I never cared for them. This summer, I started to enjoy it.

The Grateful Dead. Pink Floyd. Led Zeppelin. I guess I grew up with a prejudice against the rock and roll canon.
