I don't think your hair is long or sloppy at all. It looks pretty short and tidy to me.

You have the same problem I do: bulk. I ended up growing mine out -- no amount of thinning or shortening could tame my regal mane. If you do want to keep it short, try a good conditioner. That will make it more limp, less bulky and easier to style, assuming you're not looking to spike it or somesuch.

What shampoo and conditioner do you use? This is something I've never been able to sort out.

Really? Try something from like Nancy Boy or Aveda. Both have the peppermint/rosemary shampoo and conditioner. Personally I like NB over Aveda. My hair is softer and just has an overall better feel to it. Supposedly shampoos with essential peppermint and rosemary oils are good for your hair.

There's also this woman who is known as Mama Bear (http://bear-haven.com), her real name is Sue. She makes her own batch of peppermint/rosemary shampoo, not sure about conditioner anymore. I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard they're really good. I know she's an excellent craftsman (or craftsperson) based on past experience with her shaving soap. If it wasn't for the Soap Mistress (http://thegentlemensquarter.com) whose real name is Colleen, I'd be all over Mama Bear's. Both use customers to test and really use the feedback they get.

I've also heard excellent reviews about Paul Mitchell, American Crew, Kiehl's. At this point, I'm too dedicated to NB to try out either of those. For both Paul Mitchell and American Crew, it's specifically the tea tree oil products.

honestly though... go to your haircutter, say you want it thinned, textured and shortened. should look fine... oh and get some wax or something...and just fucking tousle your hair, works fine for me. oh and your face looks slightly swollen, so put an icepack on it when you wake up, and shave everyday....

kodiak, go a fade #2 to #3 on the sides. leave the top exactly the way it is but just texturise the shit out of it and take about 5cm off the length. not exactly a slimane haircut but generally quite a progressive cut. tiny bit of matt product and style it all the way down or down to the side. works for me. if not just keep growing it, and go for a longer shaggier/textured cut. get some rick owen jawnz and cop some high tops and you're cool.
