I'm probably going to leave Manila in a few months for grad studies in the East Coast. I've always wanted a great pair of sunglasses. For the longest time, I've found myself wanting one of those Oakley models with a slimmer frame, thinking of a silver frame and blue lenses. I need prescription lenses especially for driving though.

What do you guys think of this? I had a modern look in mind, but realize I should consider more classic aviator style glasses.

What would you guys suggest?

I think sunglasses become dated faster than any other accessory, or any piece of clothing.

The 'classic' plastic-framed Oakleys, to me, are very mid-nineties. I'd wear them for functional reasons - working outside, hiking, on a boat, etc - but I wouldn't wear them to make a fashion statement.

The only Oakley models I can see myself wearing are the "WHY" and maybe the "Crosshair" models - both of which are thin and wireframed.

As a rule, I tend to purchase sunglasses with small lenses and thin wire frames, as I need to wear them a lot and prefer something functional and unobtrusive. That, and aviators, for when I'm in an aviator mood.

I have Robert Marc sunglasses with graded lenses.
I'd opt for the aviator sunglasses over the Oakleys.
Not a fan of the latter.

Is going to the mall looking for chicks a sporting activity?

Strangely, Oakleys are still extremely popular in this country. I have a number of friends and acquaintances who use Oakleys for their normal eyeglasses, but not the frames for the sunglasses of course.

Could someone kindly point me to sample photos of better options than thin-wire Oakleys?
