you could try nail polish remover to remove the logo on the lens.

Take a penny and rub it off. I just did this to my aviators, it worked like a charm. No damage to lens what so ever.

I was wondering about this.

I saw a rather nice pair of Ray-Ban tortoiseshell aviators the other week, but the excessive branding is pretty tacky.

There are so many things in this world that would be better without branding. RLP, for one. Rayban, for two.

Im with the anti branding sector on this thread. The vintage Ray Bans are much better design wise?

Quality is very good (both the frames and the lenses) and no visible branding. I've worn wayfarers all my life, not too bothered that they happen to be fashionable and trendy for a couple of years from time to time.

One thing I have to add: polarized lens aren't always the best.

They simply don't work for me. When I fly (as a pax but I spend some time in the cockpit) or out on the water, polarized lens would be horrible. You can't see instruments with them.

just picked these up from gilt today. They are Paul Smith Made By Oliver Peoples Model PS-817

True, they aren't for use in every environment. They do funky things electronics (like an iPod) and when I played golf the other day in the morning, I literally couldn't see my ball in the fairway at certain angles, unless I took off my polarized Oakleys.

Zenni 2204 Comes in four colors. Cheap as hell. I bought a couple pairs of these as prescription sunglasses with a 50% brown tint at ~$20 shipped. Most brick and morter optical stores today seem determined to only sell you polarized 80% tint and I really don't like my sunglasses to be that dark. Prescription was dead on in one of the pairs and slightly weird in the other. Go figure. You could likely just order these w/ the prescription field left blank. I also have a pair of new Ray-Ban Wayfarers. The Zenni frames aren't as nice in terms of materials, fit or finish but they aren't junk either. Small investment to try them for yourself.

Using a penny really is easy. I just did it to my Aviators.

I have these in Gold and Brown, and like them a lot. The plastic lenses make these very light and comfortable.
