I was looking at the hatfields too, but I felt they looked extremely small on the model's face. Per chance could you snap a pic of you wearing them? If no5, could you comment on the lens' size in comparison to other sunglasses

Hi all, just wanted a fit check on my new 49mm Persol 714 shades. Do they fit my face ok?

Does Thom Browne make their own sunglasses? Or is production taken over by one of the large sunglasses manufacturers?

TB eyewear is made by Dita.

Just for my own curiosity, I was wondering what the highest end sunglass brands are, excluded the rare one-offs or very limited editions that are put out by a number of different brands.

Personally, I have seen Cartier and Chrome Hearts start in the high hundreds and go up to the mid-$2,000's.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, and to add to that, Dita is a small independent company that produces very high quality work. I think the Thom Browne partnership is the only one they have going on right now.

I categorize high end as retail $300-$600 or so and ultra high end as over $600 retail. Some brands I know of that have much of their line in that range are Gold and Wood, Morgenthal Frederics (horn models), Hoffmann Natural Horn, Cerf Bois, Maison Bonnet, Cartier, Chrome Hearts, Dita (and their Thom Browne line), Rigards, and Sama (and their Loree Rodkin line). Usually, the most expensive frames are made with components of buffalo horn, sterling silver, or exotic leathers. Maison Bonnet is the most expensive I know of; their bespoke genuine tortoise shell frames often go over $30k. Speaking of which, I'm sure you could push a basic high end frame into ultra high end pricing by getting a bespoke version. I know Cutler and Gross and Tom Davies offer bespoke services, for instance.

Thanks!

I went with a pair of Thom Browne's and am extremely impressed by the construction.

So many details that the photos can't pick up on.

Which model did you end up getting?

Could use a clearer, more straight-on pic, but from that image nothing jumps out like "why are you wearing those?!?"
I will say, however, that my initial feeling is the 714 is not the ideal shape for your face… but not entirely incompatible either.

I have some Loree Rodkin Samas and yeah they retail in the $600-$700 range I believe… definitely very nice though.

Here is a close up of mine... It's about a year and half old and the leather just keeps getting better. Check the detail of stitching.... Really amazing.
