Sunglasses MEGATHREAD - all sunglass questions here please - Page 101

Hi, gents.

Was going to get a pair of Persols 714 and have doubts about the size. Since it's impossible to try them on here in Siberia (just like any other decent brand), I need some help.

I have fairly big head (circumference is 60.5cm/23.8" if that helps), not huge but definitely above average. Which size is to go with, 52 or 54?

Lucky for me I dont have a big head wink.gif. But yea thats kind of a lot for sunglasses...though I wear them every day and have very sensitive eyes. (light blue)

If only I didnt buy 4 pair of raybans and 1 pair of Warby Ps in the last few years.

RL made yellow sunglasses but they sold out litterally as I was going to buy them. I had them in my cart and everything. But its my own fault I waited like a month to get them. I just really like the color on the pair the model is wearing in the link I posted.

I have always liked gregory pecks, and knew it wasnt them, but never really looked into the O'malleys.

RE: Sunglasses MEGATHREAD - all sunglass questions here please

If you're about to make a purchase, check out Gaffos.com.

Just bought a pair of 714s from them. Given the prices, I was skeptical that they were selling legitimate stuff, so I bought a second pair of 714s from a regular retailer. I compared the retail pair to the Gaffos pair and they're identical, even down to the polarized/photochromatic lenses, which would be hard to fake. Recommended.

On the subject, can anyone recommend a good, slim hard case for 714s? The leather pouch just doesn't provide enough protection.

Are sunglasses one of those things you should pay retail for rather than copping a pair that fits shitty?

Hi all, I've come here after some googling failed to identify these sunglasses I saw on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/tommyforbes/4900405476/in/set-72157623559425358/

At first I thought they were Oliver Peoples O'Malleys, but the dots are side by side instead of vertical.

Any ideas what they are?

Old question but they may be Illesteva. Context or need supply carries them

Buffalowang, both pairs look good, hinge on the persols is kind of loud though, I'd vote the ray bans if it had to be one or the other

@ mike1445, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. They are Garret Leight Hamptons. I like what I see in the product shots on their website and on Mr Porter here. Does anyone have any thoughts on the brand/quality? They seem to be made in China but mention that the materials are japanese and italian. I like that they use mineral glass, though.

Not worth more than 150 I'd say.

@mike. Yeah, I thought the Persols were a bit too big. Will try to buy a pair of smaller sizes and sell these off.
Thanks!

considering most sunglasses are made by luxottica, buy whatever fits you best regardless of price
