If you're skiing or base jumping or riding motocross or whatever it is xtreme people do these days then by all means rock them. Otherwise, I'd keep away. I suppose these are significantly less hideous than the oakelys of the 80s and 90s:

They seem to have discarded the crazy robotic lizard of the future aesthetic for the moment. These are pretty awesome in a totally ridiculous way:

I'm looking to get a new pair of shades. are there any brands that people have noticed are inferior, especially for their price. I will be looking all over, and I know I can trust Armani, but I have never owned anything by ksubi. so who makes especially good or bad shades?

I think Ksubi are horifically overpriced. If you look carefully you can find cool quality sunglasses without the markup for under $40, though they won't be a name brand if that's what your looking for ...

Oliver Peoples and Maui Jim are arguably the best out there in terms of overall quality, and Revo also has some of the best optical quality, although their frames are only so so. I'm just not a fan of Maui's styles. I'm at the point now where I can't wear anything but OP.

Mosley Tribes and Paul Smith are both good due to their OP affiliation and can be found on e-bay relatively cheap.

Rayban is always classic and cheap to boot and I will say Tom Ford has some killer looking frames, although I don't know anthing about the quality.

I like Super alot, but basically they're just wayfarer and variants of it in better quality than Rayban (well, atleast that's my impression, I'm no expert on the subject).

And if you like oversized sunglasses, Henrik Vibskov's Andy is always a fun choice.

Randolph Engineering as an (cheaper) alternative to Rayban's aviators. Having handled both (and bought the randolphs) I can vouch for the serious quality of these glasses.

I think it's been agreed that American Optical and Randolph aviators are the same beast. My AO pair in matt chrome arrived today, and it's a really solid piece of equipment...

Remember that if you buy a pair of Wayfarers, you'll make baby Jesus cry.

PS: My preferences are Ray-Ban Wayfarers and Aviators, Oakley Half Jackets and Randolf Aviators!
