what type of budget did this movie have?

After all the hype behind the technology of this film, that trailer was so disappointing. The environment looks fake, the characters have that awful CGI gloss, and it just looks like shit. So much for these characters making Gollum and King Kong look like shit.

Ebert wasn't particularly impressed by the 15 minutes of preview footage that he saw:

I had such high hopes for this one, but the new trailer looks REALLY awful. I'm sure I'll go see it anyway, but it looks like the "bad CGI, poorly plotted mess with a bloated budget" film par excellence. http://movies.yahoo.com/premieres/16...standardformat

When you're 200M into making a 500M action flick, you can't rightly say, "Geez, this looks like crap, maybe we should start over from the beginning."

Avatar ccould be the Waterworld that Titanic never was.

I suppose you're talking about rach here? Doesn't surprise me in the least. "Geeky sci-fi enthusiast" is my favorite type of cryptoghey.

Thank you. I've had terrible trouble keeping my Jil Sander shirt pockets free from fountain pen ink.

OMGawesome CGI or no, I will not be paying to watch what looks like a no-plot romance/adventure starring Jar Jar Binks.
