What do you own from DUNHILL? - Page 3

Isn't this interesting? Three bloody pages of replies about Dunhill stuff, and not a single damn tobacco pipe--the very product on which Dunhill's fame was based. A sad commentary on the decline of pipe smoking--a gentle, philosophic and soul-satisfying practice properly performed. "A man with a pipe is at peace with the world," I like to tell people. I suppose the day is coming when Holland & Holland and Beretta will primarily be known as clothing companies. That will not be a better day.
An apt observation. Is Alfred Dunhill, Tobacconists separate from Dunhill Clothiers? To those of you who smoke, I suggest Leavitt & Pierce in Cambridge, Mass. My pipes are from there.

Two ties: one burgundy wool with a blue and white windowpane; one linen-slik in cream, yellow, light blue and red. Both purchased at the Heathrow duty-free shop.

I believe the tobacconists are indeed separate and have been so for some years or decades now. However, the designer/outfitter Dunhill does still sell the lighters and cases etc.

I have a pipe too, that I smoke on occasion when the weather is nice, no idea who made it though - doubt its worth much. It just says "italian well pipe" on the bottom in really tiny letters. I also have a really small black claw shaped pipe (no idea what you might smoke out of such a tiny pipe) that I bought on E-bay. The only reason I got it was because its a cool design and the interesting history of said pipe.

An orange tie with lilac and white flowers. A lovely tie, really, but it never knots right and doesn't dimple worth a damn.

Here is what I have from Dunhill: 2 Polo Shirts 3 Basic Dress Shirts (White, Sky Blue and the Pink) 1 Basic 3 button charcoal gray 42R suit 2 Jackets 5 Lighters 1 Pen I got all mine at 70% off the MSRP when Dunhill closed all its retail stores in the States (with the exception of NY) back in June/July of 2003. For some reasons I still can't comprehend, the Dunhill brand is doing really well in China. Last I checked, there are over 50 Dunhill boutiques there. Perhaps there is really something to be said about the first mover advantage. Dunhill and Zegna are one of the first luxury brands entered the China market back in the early 90s. MB
