Fair enough. I don't think anyone's gonna get huge doing BW exercises alone. However, great for improvising when on the go e.g. traveling. Those guys can be quite creative. As well, a lot of those exercises look like they'd be a lot more "functional" in terms of involving stabilizers. Not arguing for or against. Just the suggestion of using rings made me think of that site because I've seen stuff like that on there. They also have some rope ladder looking thing called the universal strength apparatus that can be used for such exercises and others. Provided there's a place to put it that is.

bw are much more practical real-world, functional movements than bodybuilding. all the time i spend in the gym doing non-functional hypertrophic training seems dumb sometimes.

This is my home setup: -Elite rings - $75.00 -Pull up bar - $30.00 I can adjust the rings height so that I can do push ups, dips, and muscle ups (even though I have to do them with my legs tucked).

Obviously a weight belt will be ideal, but that worked for me (up to a point).

I originally mentioned to the forum that I would like to avoid the purchase of additional equipment and progress with heavier dips. I like the rope and will also try the above mentioned technique.

This being said, I understand the importance of not putting off the purchase of a belt and a chain as others have found it more comfortable and, more importantly, practical when they progress to past certain point.

I also like the idea of using rings, but I would much prefer to make the most of what my gym currently has to offer. It's pretty lame, tailored towards an older membership base, where most do alot of treadmill and cycling. They don't have a power rack which annoys me the most as I now have to deadlift instead of doing my favourite exerccise, the back squat.

Anyways... thanks so much for all your inputs!

You kidding right? Without a belt, how is he supposed to tie the rope with the weights to his body, wrap the rope around his body like a circus act?
