Stylish, Functional and Durable Winter Boots - Too much to ask? - Page 5

Nice. I like them better a shade more than the Katahdins, and I'd be interested to learn more about them... (price would be good too EDIT: Heh, I looked back at the original post and saw the price there. My B.

I see, very legitimate reason!

How about a pair of decently stylish ones for 100 or less?

^^ You'd be hard pressed to find a better deal in terms of quality, style and price than those LL Bean's for $150 imo. Though I have seen a US website offering the same boot (made by Chippewa, but perhaps without LL Bean branding) for around $69-$89US. Not sure if they were factory seconds or first quality, but worth a look. I can't seem to find the link - but you might be able to google it. These might also be worth a look: http://www.americanequipage.com/serv...ory=ALL&no=860 I have no idea what the quality is in person though. Other than that, maybe try military surplus - should be able to get something for around $50, but they'll be more functional than stylish probably.

Anyone else have some sizing experience they can offer on the LL Bean Katahdin's? I'll be getting a pair -- those are exactly what I need for city winters. Stylish and they look functional but not too technical.

^Did you not read my post above!? You can get the beans for $69 at bootsusa.com - I'm not sure if they're first quality or factory seconds though. And, they're $150 on LL Bean, not $170 - the waterproof/insulated ones are $170 (and they don't look the same unfortunately).

LL Bean also does unconditional returns. Something to keep in mind.

They're the first ones on that page.

Again....these only show LADIES sizes though. Read carefully before you order or you might be disappointed. Maybe they have some mens sizes too, who knows, but that page only lists ladies sizes.

Or maybe I'm stupid and totally missing something, but I just see ladies.

I've been wearing my boots since I got them though and these things are easily worth the $150 asking price. I couldn't be happier with them.

These jeans will go fine with a pair of jeans and not look out of place?

I guess you're right - for some reason I just assumed they have men's sizes too. Either way, I was going to call before ordering.

I have no problem with paying $150, its moreso that with the $CAD down the toilet again, plus the fact that LL Bean charges 18% duty - it would equal almost $250 CAD.
