Hi all.... quick question about what belt would pair well with the Alden navy blue PTBs I just bought (identical to these).

Would tan leather work? Or what would you all recommend?

Mostly casual guy here -- wear good jeans and chinos most of the time.

Hello Alden Addicts-belts in cordovan shell seem to be a big challenge too. For what it's worth...I was able to order a AE belt in brown shell cordovan via there custom department for a $10 extra fee over the standard $195.00
AE list some of their shoes in brown she'll, but no belts. They show only black and burgundy, but brown is available via the custom route

I think I would try the Lexol Neatsfoot dressing mentioned above a few days ago, after a wipe down with damp cloth and allowing to dry.

^ I've used Obenauf's Heavy Duty Leather Preservative with good results. Venetian Shoe Cream (neutral) too. Apply lightly to clean boots, wipe off any excess, when dry buff with a horsehair brush and finally a soft cloth. In case of the Obenauf's, I apply by hand and rub it into all the seams, stitching, and welt. The beeswax smell is nice too.

As I continue to cope with the shortage of the rarer shells, I've been eager to purchase fun Aldens for the warmer seasons. My question is about whether I'm committing an error of redundancy by owning several different Alden models in snuff suede. I already have the JCrew snuff lwb, but am in the process of contemplating adding the Leydon flex welt snuff chukka and the Van unlined penny in snuff.

I know there are other suede colors available. Although I thought about going with the tan suede for the chukka, its versatility ends up overshadowed when I think about trying to keep a lighter suede color clean. Am I wrong to think this way? Anyone with tan suede/snuff suede comparison pics? Also, I ruled out the brown suede because I was thinking the darker suede might be harder to pair. Indeed, I've been feeling that the snuff suede color offers a very versatile, flexible middle road between the lighter and darker suedes.

Please let me know if I'm on the right track or disabuse me of any deluded thinking.

How do folks size on the TruForm last? I'm thinking about getting a pair of the Handsewn Oxford Luxury Comfort for casual weekend use. They certainly aren't the most attractive Alden offering, but do look comfortable. Are they mainline Aldens or part of the Cape Cod Collection?

My friend, I am one whose Alden collection is nearly half color 8. Is it redundant, probably, but so what. If you are a fan of snuff suede and in a handful of these models, I say go for it. I own a tan suede PTB and will have a snuff LWB on the way. They are similar but I have room for both. I'd say go with what you think you would wear even if it means 4 pairs of tan and snuff suede in LWB, PTB, LHS, and chukkas. I do however, recommend prioritizing shell even during this shortage. Assuming you buy the above statement, you are now spending for enjoyment. People spend lavish amounts and amass fortunes they could never hope to spend for enjoyment. Once you enter such a realm, freely spend on anything you deem worth your money.
