Thanks, your photo looks amazing.

Does anyone know what colored/kind of shoe cream to use for the Alden 403? The color seems kind of unique.

Not my photo, but you're welcome :)

You know how the TOJ-wearers get, haha

Too bad Alden's never go on sale, I'm really digging their cordovan wingtip boots...

Not to be offensive or offputting, but if this is your reasoning you will find SF in general to be a cold and lonely place.

El that was a really calm reply. I may not have been so polite.

not very promosing to see the suede longwings I pre-ordered 15 months ago as still having no ETA...I am considering eating the $100 and buying from Leffot to have them for spring and summer

Are you part of the LSH preorder like I am?

^ I'm on the preorder and thought the exact same thing when I saw the note about tan longwings. I was hoping they'd be ready for the spring. There were also snuff and brown suede longwings that were on the same preorder. I kinda wish I got the brown ones as well.

Yes, I am. The CXL LHS were part of that preorder as well and were stocked about a month ago. I will be kind of upset if I don't have them for the spring/summer. As I said I am considering ordering from Leffot since they have then in stock but prefer not to lose $100 as a result of my impatience...

I'm considering the unlined LHS in tan or snuff suede. Any thoughts on this shoe? Does anyone take a different size in it than in the lined shell LHS?

Looking good! Is that a #8 lace up moc next to the PTB?

Yes it is. It's a relatively new addition to my collection and already becoming one of my favorite shoes. It works great with just about everything I wear and more than dressy enough for my office.

There was a post within the past few days that showed a leydon and barrie chukka side by side, which will give you a good profile comparison.

Natty CXL does go great with jeans, and it is a very decent make-up, so its not a bad idea to get it.

On the other hand, don't burn yourself out by doing too much too fast. In the little over a year that I have been lurking/posting in this thread, I've seen more than a few folks go nuts buying everything they see only to sell a lot of them a few months later because they don't end up wearing some of them enough. Its never a bad idea to keep your powder dry so that you can blast off on something you really like that pops up later. For all you know, someone could unexpectedly get a restock of the whiskey LWB in 2 weeks.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
Dear Bakes,

Thanks for the seasoned advice to ward off premature, well, you know...Happens to a lot of guys, I'm told!!

I think you're right. It may be wise to wait. Given the infectious enthusiasm on this thread, I've ended up with 9 awesome acquisitions in the last two months. None of them have been regrettable thus far, but I've had far from enough time to truly enjoy each one and figure out the extent to which each pair goes with the different things in my closet. My burgeoning interests, understanding of shell, the different lasts and of the versatility of the various aldens leads me in this clearer moment to think that it's fine to sit tight for a bit. As much as I can imagine the ease with which one can rock natural cxl lwbs (see, eg, El Argentino), it occurs to me that it might feel better to diversify the collection gradually, expanding away from LWBs and boots and instead looking toward the unlined chukkas or maybe a suede loafer or shell bal. Of course, if the opportunity arises to get in on a color 8 Plaza lasted Indy, I won't even ask for your advice, I'm all in!

Hope you guys enjoyed the weekend. -d
