^ just called to try for a size 12 in the navy suede chukka, but the biggest they have is 11.5D :( Too bad, I've been looking for something in navy suede for a while, would have been killer to get it at 40% off!

But this is a great PSA, I suggest calling sooner rather than later to lock down your size before they sell out.

what models are on sale exactly?

also a shot of my color 8 LWB on their maiden voyage.

white balance looks a little off making them look like cigar-ish.

Follow up on PSA: spoke to Michael, who informed me there are also white bucks with red sole also 40%off. Model 96814. $475 before disc. Is that a real Alden? I feel like I never see white ones other than the JCrew makeup.

It certainly is. I didn't care for it but I'm not a fan of white shoes in general. They also had a non-shell loafer that I *think* was on sale as well.

That makes sense, but I was thinking more of taking shoes on and off to get through security, where no laces would be a plus. Also I don't think I've ever noticed my feet swelling while flying.

don't know about you, but when i fly my feet tend to swell. therefore, i prefer shoes with laces.

I find the same thing for my feet. I fly about 3-4 times a month and have found that if I don't have to be in business attire, I'll wear the suede unlined chukka boots. Super comfy and easy to don/doff through TSA.

I recently picked up the J. Crew suede chukka that differs from the standard Leydon 149x model. I was looking for something with a non-leather sole and the J. Crew makeup was a barrie last, snuff suede and crepe sole. I thought they'd be perfect. Upon receipt, I found that they are lined, making them very different than the standard unlined model. I'm still on the fence about them and have therefore only worn them indoors. Still comfy but heavier than the 149x models.

Sahphir reno contains turpentine

Saphir Cordovan Cream does not, and is neatsfoot oil based.

I've heard that the neutral will darken whiskey and ravello, but don't have any first-hand experience.

any type of polish/creme/whatever you put on a lighter color leather in which the leather is absorbing the content will be ever so slightly darkened. this will fade back to normal over a short period of time. the product in which the least darkening as taken place, in my experience, is neutral cordovan creme. reno is a cleaner just as much as its a conditioner despite what anyone wants to tell you otherwise. saphir creme is purely a conditioner.

Just scooped up a pair of brown wingtip Aldens that are made with pebbled leather. My first pair of Aldens. They are lightly used, but could use a bit of love. Any tips for maintaining and making these guys look pretty?

I was hoping I could get some help with my upcoming purchase. If you had to choose between a Cigar LWB or a Cigar Chukka which one would you purchase? I can't afford both and I can't make up my mind. I already have at LWB and Chukka in Ravello.

Because of my inexperience of posting in the forum posted this as a new thread which I'm not sure how to get deleted. Any help on that matter would be appreciated as well.

Thanks

I've owned all four (though I have listed my ravello chukkas)... My cigar chukkas are one of my favorite Aldens, but so are my longwings... Very tough choice but I would go with the longwing because I think if you are owning multiple pairs of a style, longwings may be better to get a variety of than chukkas

watching house of cards on netflix. frank underwood (kevin spacey) needs to "clear his head" in episode 6. he does so by polishing his shoes. can't tell if the shoes are aldens, but the polish and brushes are.
