Looks about right for cordovan, are you keeping trees in them?

ive never seen this happen in a cordovan alden. cordovan does crease but that area is highly unusual. they might be able to fix it although it would be difficult so they might just replace. i would contact alden right away.

I do not...I haven't worn them that much in the last couple of months and they haven't really changed since these pics back in November:

This question has been asked a number of times in this thread. I know I've answered at least once. Click on my name and then "search for all posts by..." You should be able to find out the answer.

Do they fit your feet properly?

looks to me like either your feet are too small/shoes too big or/and you don´t use shoetrees.

I would not send them to Alden because they won´t replace them.

Simon.

these longwings fit me perfect. 7.5 E and they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I have. Felt great out of the box. I also wear my Roy's in 7.5E. I found the D width caused a little too much pressure on the outside portion of my feet by the end of the day. I really do not mind the creases as they give a lot of character and vintage look but always wondered if it were normal as I did not notice it much in my calf version or Mcarther's pictures. Funny thing is I've worn these probably 2 times outside of my house and always store with shoe trees. Oh well.

There's an extremely high level of variability in the creasing of shell Aldens. I have a pair of chukkas where one shoe never developed a crease. It still looks brand new! The other shoe looks like you'd expect.

The side creasing on your shoe shows up to a lesser extent on most of the longwing pictures that get posted here. If your pair fit well then enjoy them. When it's time to get them refurbished Alden might be able to clean up the side creasing for you. I wouldn't think for a second about sending them in to Alden as "defective" though.

The good thing about shell is that those creases probably won't get any worse with wear.

Thanks for your response, I thought it was worth asking since there are so many variations out there. I can't get it out of my head that a #8 Indy or plain toe à la AF53 with contrast edge and Commando or Double Waterloc sole (like this) would look great. I guess the closest thing is either the Leffot Tanker or a Cigar Indy but man I really love the darker browns that emerge when the burgundy starts to wear.
