I meant that you didn't have to be a FB member to be on IG.

Styles mentioned in this thread:

Brown dress or are you going for white? If white, I'd recommend the white buck or a light shade. biggrin.gif

Leffot just posted new pic on the reverse tobacco chamois Greenwich boots on his IG.

Can't wait to get mine. Some sizes still left for pre-order.

I "try" to post different pics on SF than on IG.

I've been wearing a pair of 10E unlined PTBs from Epaulet. I ordered a couple new pairs - Natural CXL PTB and Unionmade Alpine NST - but I opted for a 10.5D. The width in the heel is better and I think my foot falls more correctly in the shoe.

I was just brushing the 10E PTBs and decided to snap a pick of the inside to see my footfall pattern. Pic is below. They're comfortable but from the look of those pics my toes look murdered.

Based on this, guesses as to the best fit for me? I have wide toes but a narrow-ish heel. ~11 TTS on a Brannock.

TIA kind sirs.

I'd agree 10.5D

Gentlemen, thank you very much. As MrDV stated, the Unlined Shell LHS design is "owned" by Brooks Brothers. The Whiskey LHSes were made in 2009. The socks were from JCrew. I just got a second pair of them, which allowed me to wear one today and one yesterday (they happened to work well with my shirts both days).

Unfortunately, they appear to have sold out of the Navy/Pink design... But maybe they will get more in!?

@sacafotos, thank you very much!!! I think it is the fact that I am doing the @MrDV photo angle...

Gentlemen, thank you very much! I consider the JCrew LWB the king of my Ravello LWB fleet! It is the absolute quintessential Ravello color (to me) and I love the snaz that the exposed brass eyelets bring tot he table. @ReppTiePrepster
, I am very sorry to hear your tale of woe with regards to this model. I know that there are several of such tales, and so I always feel bad posting them...

-Mike

Is the whiskey shell unlined LHS the only Alden makeup Brooks has ever offered in a color other than #8 or black?

Chamois: You do not need any shoe care products since it is saturated with oils. I brush mine once in a blue moon.
You did not provide any information about your third pare, but you can go through one of the numerous SF threads dedicated to the shoe care, like this

On both my natural and brown CXL boots I use, almost exclusively, Saphir Dubbin....

For me,
#8 lhs.

When I think quintessential preppy I envision prep school; repp ties, navy blazers, gray wool or khaki pants, color 8 loafers (LHS).  Dirty bucks and suede saddles also suit that picture when I wasn't wearing gray wool pants.

That's interesting, I thought.  So the sole itself is Alden's.  I called Alden Shop of San Francisco and asked if they had a Commando sole option for the 405s.  He said "We don't make anything like that."  I asked him what he'd recommend, and he said "I don't know what to tell you, we don't make anything like that."  Which was odd because this is on their website:
http://www.aldenshop.com/Store/DrawProducts.aspx?CategoryID=146&ParentID=4&PageID=&Action=

So I guess I'm confused, if the boot is Alden and the sole is Alden, why can't I get them from any old Alden shop?  Why do I have to go through a Hawaii company that's always sold out?
Specific retailers have specific makeups. Not all Aldens are available anywhere. Only stock models that you find on Aldens site (if that's what you want to call it).

The SA wasn't denying that Alden has make-ups with commando soles (Alden SF stocks a brown grain LWB on commando), he just meant that the Indy on commando is not done as a stock model.  It is specially made for LS.

I would go with BK on this one. IMO the saddles defines preppy.

Spectators could easily fit here thou too, not sure how many of these Alden has made.

Leffot has done an Alden spectator - a couple of sizes left according to the website.

To me spectators are more 1920s, Great Gatsby rather than preppy, but who am I to judge.  :p

That is my grail as of now.

The fact that they have an IG account is mind-blowing to me...have you seen their website???

I thought the same thing.  I hope they don't use the same images from their website!

Looks "snuff-like," but heavy duty version.  Might be my next boot!  (May force me to ditch the 403)

[Edit: Don't have my size. 403 is safe for now!]
