I knew what you were getting at.  I made my comment somewhat tongue in cheek.  I'm with you my friend; it certainly is a downer.

Yes, especially compared to Leffot's pre-order offerings.

Alden sounds like an Amish operation.

Frinds,

Is there an Alden plain toe boot in color 8, in the Barrie last and a commando sole available anywhere? All eyelets would be a sure bonus.

Thanks in advance.

there might be a pair of 8.5Ds for sale next week...i pre-ordered both the black indy on commando from leffot (received today btw) and the ultimate indy from LS, both in 8.5D. i based sizing on my snuff suede roy boots which fit ok (easily my most worn aldens over the past 9 months) however, i suspect a 9C might be be a better fit given my more recent experience with the modified last in 9C. i think i might sell the ultimate indies when they come in, return the black indys to leffot and in exchange request a pre-order of the natty cxl indy in 9C. I called Alden SF today and they said trubalance and modified should fit similarly.

i ordered the black indys on a whim as i wanted to replace my black shell captoes that were just a hair too formal for my tastes. now that i have them on my feet, i'm just not sure.

also, can someone give me a link to some good loafer socks (not too $$$/pair please)?

edit: LS introduced the ultimate indys when the only indy really available was the standard 405. compared to that, it was a pretty great upgrade. and commando>>>>neocork

Agreed RTP.
I somewhat like all four of these pre-orders.
The waterlock sole on the Cxl LWB will be great for keeping moisture out and the brown metal eyelets are a nice touch.
I was thinking the chamois LWB would be a perfect Fall and Winter shoe, although I'm taking into consideration what someone posted earlier about how it ages.
Kind of interested in the shortwing boot ...

now, I am tempting to get that reverse chaomis WT boot as a winter beater boot in addition to my navy cxl indy that should be coming by the end of the month (crossing my finger on this one)!! got a couple more hours to think about this.

Edit: Didn't realize until I had already posted that the AF53 is on TruBalance... And now I can't delete the post so I might as well leave it and look like a fool. wink.gif

Alden-of-Carmel has the AF53: https://www.alden-of-carmel.com/Shoes-Shell_Cordovan_High_Lace_Boot_160.htm.
Seems like they might get some more sizes this month (though I don't know how updated the website is), 9-10.5, D width. Hooks, though.

And JGilbert makes the same boot on Plaza: http://www.jgilbertfootwear.com/products-page/mens-shoe-collection/alden-boots-2/ (third row).

I have not been able to find one in shell.

AF53 only hits 2 of 4 of your requirements (plain toe, commando) because it is on TrueB and has speed hooks.
Alden Madison has a boot that hits 2 of 4 (plain toe, Barrie last) because it has crepe soles and speed hooks.

I considered buying the Alden Madison boot and having it resoled by B. Nelson, but never pulled the trigger. Good luck and let me know if you find one!

The AF53 is a pre-order, so they'll be getting sizes this month but unless people pass on them after putting down a deposit, the sizes are spoken for. I've had my 8.5D on pre-order for a few months now and have watched the available pre-order sizes diminish down to what you see now on their site.

Placed an order for the Alpine Grain NSTs from Unionmade. Like the brass, love the all eyelet. My first Alden boot (to go along with my Natural CXL PTB and unlined brown CXL PTB).

How does the alpine grain age? I haven't seen a ton of pictures here or via google. With the commando sole, these should be a great fall/winter boot here in the NE.

Good gad lads,

I’m new here but have a 3 pair of Alden shoes. Could you recommend me a proper shoe care for Unlined Chromexcel Plain Toe Blucher (Brown Chromexcel) and Alden for Need Supply – Harrison Ranger Mocc (tobacco chamois leather) what colour is the best for these shoes? And what is better cream or wax?

Thanks,

Faffer

My size was gone in the first minute for the Tobacco LWB! At least I got the Natty CXL Indy Boot. Dame I wanted both. I would have been done for at least a couple of years.
