Snap! These gently broken in snap lasted Alden for Brooks Brothers perforated cap toes arrived today, fresh off eBay. Don't know the seller, but I really like these babies, and appreciate the original box AND Brooks shoe trees. Way to make a buyer happy!

Nice one - I miss the handmade socks - they still are on fire

Hang in there, yours are out there (even if still attached to a horse).
When whiskey was readily available a few years ago I just wasn't interested, but it's grown on me the last year or two - especially the PTB and the short wing that RTP posted yesterday. In these times of prohibition you've got to go to great lengths if you want to drink whiskey.

Yup.

It is pretty lame, but they are significantly cheaper ($248).  J Crew also has their Ludlow wingtips which also appear to be a wannabe Alden LWB (cigar-looking calf, I guess, with stacked leather heels).  I suppose there is nothing wrong with trying to come up with a cheap knock off.  I guess I would be more offended if they tried to compete with Alden's versions at the same price point.

Haha, who's going to buy Jcrew shoes if they tried to replicate Alden's exact shoes with similar price point?

Those look SO good IC. Really makes me wish I had whiskey someplace other than just the liquor cabinet.

+1, congrats ironclad...  patience is a virtue!  Enjoy often and in great health my friend!

This article has a quick Q&A that mentions grading shell for quality

Turns out equine hides were the start-up product for Horween

I think that's always been J Crew's MO - to have their own branded versions of popular items - button downs, polo shirts, pants, jackets, socks ... and shoes. Same as many retailers. I'm not a J Crew historian but the "J Crew in Good Company" marketing strategy was fairly recent. But an Indy rip off does seem a bit over the top. I haven't seen it and have no plans to go looking for it.

Odd because alden won't let retailers advertise rare shell online, yet jcrew is allowed to sell Indys and the knockoffs side by side.

And, no way I could resist a knockoff Indy in ravello or navy shell.

see what you started, ryden?  :)

RTP, the sun really brings out the color tones nicely - you definitively should consider putting these into the summer rotation more often. Well done!
