That LS medallion toe boot looks odd to me without the perforated cap. With the cap, that would be a killer.

Pleasant surprise waiting for me this morning at the office.....CXL LHS from Leather Soul.....these are honestly the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on straight out of the box.....no tightness across the vamp at all which has not been my experience with either the shell or suede versions that I have tried on in the past in the same size. A question for the members though.....if there are not initially any pressure points will the leather still stretch? I am asking because they fit perfectly right now but if they were to stretch much they may end up being loose.

I really dig how these look and am considering a pair myself. How does the Van compare in sizing to say the Barrie? I could imagine going down a half size due to no laces but am wondering if that is the case? Also curious in regards to width.

I would like that LSxSF boot so much better if it has all eyelets. Everything else about the boot seems so formal...Plaza last, black edge, leather sole. Why add speedhooks instead of eyelets? I can't imagine many people are wearing this boot casually with denim.

I agree this boot should have all eyelets, but....

1. No one will see the speedhooks with trouser leg down.
2. You can convert the hooks post-sale to all eyelets.

Uncle Mac, it was this post of yours that inspired me to get some Alden Ciger LHS's.

Outstanding collection - great combination of workhorse shoes, some rare cordovan, dressier and casual styles. Sometimes I wonder if I would do better with a more focused collection
Thanks Alcibiades! My intent has been to select carefully for a focused collection.

I had the same sizing question about the LHS. None other than Uncle Mac himself posted that if I wore an 11D in my Barrie size I would be an 11D in the Van. Of course he was right.

Guys with wider feet - have you tried EE widths in Barrie? Alden SF is listing a lot of inventory in those sizes for the whiskey longwings

I've got a few pairs in EE on the barrie, shame they don't have any longwings in #8.
