NRO CODE PRESIDENTS

Worked for me.

700

thanks for the heads up, i put in an order for a shoe they say won't ship until march and used the code, which worked. given the history with NRO and the mixed experiences people have had, i am anticipating the order getting cancelled, so keeping my hopes low. but at $100 off it was worth a shot for a makeup that isn't around often.

Unusually awesome!!!!! J Gilbert uses the plaza last quite a bit in their make ups. I really enjoy the plaza.

If I could choose one Alden last, it would be the Plaza, and the decision for me would be an easy one. JGilbert/Yenni consistently get my business because of this.

NRO is all over the place with its prices.

$579 for the 9015 is the cheapest I know of. That less 20% is a downright bargain ($463.20). I dare say one will never find them cheaper at any retail store.

Agreed, the first and only pair of Alden shoes I own are a par of ptbs on the plaza. When I first tried them on at m Goldberg I was advised it was the only model they had in my size as the plaza was an unpopular last. The rest of my Aldens are all boots on the Barrie but that's more a function of make ups and availability. I do have a pair of plaza captoe boots on order from leather soul. That ptb is what spawned my present addiction. To think only a few years ago it was Bruno Magli and other fashion brands. Thanks to the members of this forum I have been born again, although my credit card still needs forgivess. ( as an aside what up with LS putting sneakers on their updates page what a let down)

Do most PTB owners typically wear them with suits or jeans? I am highly considering a pair of Cigar PTB's but pretty much wear denim on a daily basis and want to ensure this would work.

PTB owners are all over the place on this one - and there seems to be no general rule on the matter. I own, or have owned, the PTB in various shades of shell, and I personally break it down like this:

black - yes
color 8 - yes (mine are the BB version)
cigar - no (but this is a close call, particularly when the edge is dark)
color 4 - no
ravello - no
whiskey - no

All are easily worn with jeans and many other types of trousers.

Given I have no Plaza-lasted boots (or shoes), and given how much I like the looks of this last, I want my next Alden purchase to be on the Plaza last. I like some of the makeups at J. Gilbert but am hesitant to buy my first Plaza-lasted shoe from them given their strict return policy. I can try the Alden stores in NYC or DC but their websites mostly have just #8 which I already have enough of for now (and black which might be a purchase laster on down the line). I'd even be interested in buying a Plaza-lasted boot in calf just to try this last. I'm guessing the NYC and DC stores have good return policies, no?

That's my dilemma. The strategy I think is going to be to have to call the retailers with decent return policies regularly as some others have said they do.
