Not sure I'd agree that the J Crew make-up is the best Ravello LWB, but I would certainly acquire them if given another chance.

One of each please!  I love them both, I'm on the AOC preorder for Ravello LWB.  I will be thrilled if my pair is the color of either of yours!

See Ya,

Steve

As an owner from the first run of #8 Epaulet Alt Wien's I can say that you will not be disappointed.  best finish on any pair of Alden's I have.

@mdubs

Where are the socks from?
post #86573 of 97059

@mdubs -- of all the many, many excellent pics you have posted, those might be my favorite (or at least in the top 3).  The color of the whiskey and the combination with the socks and corduroy is outstanding.

I am sure there are others.

Then my understanding of welts is off.  I don't see the difference between J Crew's and Leffot's welts here (what I thought was a flat welt).  And I'd call the Indy's welt a 270 and the 975's a 360/storm welt.

^ Your understanding is fine. If the J Crew boot was turned a little more, the 270 would be clear.

Beautiful shoes Don L. Great photography. For awhile I considered getting this traditional style from one of the old Budapest and Vienna shoemakers. But I must agree with you that the finish on Aldens #8 shell is nonpareil to just about anything else available.

Leffot tankers are definitely a nice makeup. They're on the casual side (barrie last, antique welt, commando sole, speedhooks), but I think they work well for that use. I guess it depends on your needs and your current collection.

I agree. I wear mine to work, business casual, all the time. I like the look.
