Haha yes sir, in Carmel CA. Came over for a quick weekend getaway. Love the area, would love to move my business over here.. Sad to see no Alden representation in town, although I did try on some beautiful EGs, just couldn't swing the $1,395 asking price at the time.

Where did you find EG in Carmel? Wilkes Bashford?

Khaki's of Carmel?

Khaki's is a great shop. The owner is terrifically pleasant to deal with.

@aerosurferlv

Can you post some more pics in higher res?

Gents,

If you already had a cigar Indy and natty CXL Indy—and no LWBs yet—would you spring for:

uqyturum.jpg
zyruhajy.jpg

I'm really liking the NST, but feel there's too much overlap with the other Indys. But I seem to love Indys. The two tone Alt Wien is a stunner for sure, but I think the alpine grain is more striking. The 2 two tone-ness of the Alt Wien seems limiting.

I don't have a LWB yet, so perhaps that would be the perfect combination of a casual style and alpine grain.

Maybe I end up with 2/3.

(We can survive with one kidney, right?)

If I'm in your shoes (pun intended) I go with the LWB for a few reasons. First, I purchased that shoe and returned it. I have been kicking myself ever since and will likely repurchase in the future. It is a really nice and versatile casual shoe. The other obvious reason is that it fills a big hole by giving you what I believe to be Alden's signature style (along with tassels). Also, if I've got cigar NST's, the alpine grain ones will be relegated to the back of the closet and only get occasional use. The two-tone Alt Wein's are nice but they don't work for me. Good luck.

Thanks.

I'm thinking the NST satisfies the alpine grain "gap" and can almost be worn in the same situations as the LWB; I also love that the NST has the commando sole.

But I think you're right about the LWB. Too classic not to have at least one pair.

I misread your initial intro. I thought the cigars were NST, not Indy's. I love commando and say go with the LWB and the boots. Kidneys are vastly overrated.
