Yes. Soled out (meant pun)

Budapest- and the 44 seconds you beat me to YES was like someone missing out on their size

I was not interested fwiw.

lasted about 30 mins...

I figured 15 min. I guess I should have doubled since it was black shell.

Is it just pure hype? From what I gather most Alden Retailers have had Black CT Boots in stock for a while. I can't see the Perf. being worth selling out in 30 minutes? And having to wait 3-4 months? When you can just order basically any size from TSM right now?

Seems dumb to me honestly.

I think the PCT casuals them up a bit. I had the 4065 straight tips but ended up selling them off due to lack of use. I doubt I would get anymore use out of the black Navals, though.

I think if looked at closely, there are many subtle differences in this boot from the 4065.

Take a closer look.

Sometimes the subtle differences make a huge differences.

Last, sole, eyelets, fudging, welt, eyelets, etc etc...

Perceived scarcity + low "admission fee" (i..e $144 upfront deposit) = feeding frenzy.

Good online sales and marketing. Period.

It's not a bad looking boot, either.....

I have the 4065 Grant and is my go to black boot for suited and booted...then can match em with some tailored denim.

The perf toe detail and barrie makes them too casual for my preferences without being causal enough for everyday use (thus why I opted for Walter boot). Just my quarters worth (inflation, use to be two cents).

My standard lined shell LHS are EE width since my instep can't handle the strap in my normal E width. The BB and unlined snuff are E width, though, and in my TTS size, so they are a half size longer than I take in the standard lined Van (also Barrie), but I have no problem with heel slippage. When I was at Alden DC buying the snuff LHS, I took along my BB unlined for size and comparison and, they were identical. Joe said that the BB unlined are on the Copely last but used to be on the Van last (I realize there is a lot of disagreement on this point, though). But the unlined snuff LHS are supposedly on the Van last, so, whatever. One interesting observation I have had is that if you turn the shoes over and compare them visually, the lined LHS of the same size as the unlined, whether BB shell or snuff suede, the waist of the shoe under the arch and the heel as well are both noticeably narrower in the unlined shoes. I don't know if this is because the lasts are different or because the unlined shoes are just lighter overall and don't require as full a base.

Interesting. I have the Cigar LHS from TSM in 8D--there was mild heel slippage in the beggining, but now that they're broken in a bit, I don't notice it.

Would it be a mistake to try the BB Unlined LHS in 8.5 C or D?

FWIW, I wear the Barrie in 8D and Hampton in 8.5D

Greetings Alden fans. I was wondering if anyone has the J Crew perforated cap toe bluchers and can comment on what they wear them with? I was looking at picking these up to wear with mainly chinos, occasionally wool trousers, and an ocbd. I rarely wear suits so these would be mainly for business casual with an odd sportcoat every now and then. I know these are a blucher but the captoe makes me think these are more formal. Thanks.
