The three non-shell Leffot preorders went live. Their tan calskin atoms and black alpine grain longwings are both very good models. I've almost purchased the black grain longwing several times...

Sizing question (I apologize in advance if this has been addressed before, but I wasn't able tot find the answer searching the thread)- how do the Brooks Brothers single letter width sizes convert to the typical X/X sizing that Alden typically uses? I stole a pair of shopworn pct balmorals off ebay last night and they were listed as C width, does this equate to C/E?

Doesn't the, for instance, B/D in a standard width shoe mean it is a combination last? B heel and D forefoot. So a C width would be A/C? Or B/C? Am I just totally off base?

Yup. I decided that since the conditions have to be perfect to see the spots; I'd hold on to them.

That C width designation is most certainly for the ball of the foot and not the heel.

I think this can probably be minimized with some product.

For those that have Alden for BB shoes, are the exposed eyelets brass colored or painted? The black shoe shows them looking black, however would be interested in a Burgundy pair possibly.

For what it's worth, many of my #8 shoes have blotches like that too when viewed under strong sunlight.

Eyelets are painted same color as the shell.   Color 8 shell (burgundy, as you call it) eyelets are same color.  Good luck finding a pair, as only limited sizes were available last I checked.

Yep, if they're listed as C width that means they are likely A/C width as stated in Alden's standard sizing terms.

Yes, color 8. (was looking at the BB site, and used to AE as well) would have much rather they weren't the same color though. Last I checked there were some in my size, but not now. Guess the sales wiped them out.

No, the way that Alden's two width system work is that the first letter is the width at the heel of the shoe and the second number is the width at the widest part of the shoe (roughly 1/3 the way down from the front of the shoe). If you wanted to convert that to a single width number, such as the Alden for Brooks Brothers widths, you would simply use the second (bigger letter).

Example:

C/E = E width = Slightly Wide

B/D = D width = Standard Width
