Uncle are those two shoes noticeably different colors? Or is it just the lighting?

I found out my #8 LWB has mold (the second time.....) on the tip and the punch holes.

I use shoe trees and I let the shoes air out a couple of days before putting them in the closet.

The first time I found the mold, I wiped off the mold and brush the hell out, after several months, it comes again......

I don't think it is mold.  Sounds like shell bloom.  Just wipe and brush. No big deal...

The smear on the paper towel that I used to wipe the shoe was green. I don't think the shell bloom is green in color, right?

Dinner party earlier this evening with a bunch of lawyers.  Alden tassels seemed to be quite popular with the barristers (mostly burgundy calf, but at least a few had ravello and color 8.  I showed up with these...

This is quickly becoming my favorite make-up.  (My longwings are rolling their eyes) :embar::embar:

Eh, ... :eh:, no bloom is usually white and powdery.

You could try spraying the inside of your shoes with Lysol to kill whatever is growing in there.  If you're wiping the slime off of the outside of the shoe, maybe it's something you brushed up against with your shoe??  I don't know that it is coming from inside the shoe.

Did you wear it in lots of rain and then store it in a locker of some sort where mold could grow??

Edit: just read your post again.  Sounds like your closet is the problem. Maybe clean/remove all items, spray with Lysol, close door and let sit for a day, repeat, and then air out your closet with a fan.

The last time I wore them was about 2 months ago and no rain on that day.

I put them in the closet together with other shoes. Only this pair has mold on. (thank god....)

This time I might just put them under sunlight for a few days and hope it could kill the mold......

I've seen some spectacular shoe the last few days on this site. Congrats to all.

Lots of opportunity to buy rare shell too. I got in on the Leffot. Long wing #8 with antique edge. I also did Alden of Carmel Ravello LWB, then the Ravello LW boot fron Madison Last but not least I ordered a pair of Alden 9 eyelet NST dress boot in #8 from TSM...they have been out of my size and it suddenly showed up. I've been longing for a NST boot on Aberdeen, hope it's not too snug!

So I've a lot of good stuff headed my way over the next 6 months.

I still need LHS in Ravello, cigar, and whiskey.

See Ya,
Steve
