I have to say J Crew has some of the best customer service I've ever seen. I posted about ordering a pair of their new alpine grain cap toes that came with a big area on the quarters of one of the shoes where the grain wasn't stamped. I called, they immediately credited me, overnighted another pair, and whacked off 25%. How awesome is that?! They even said they'd inspect the new pair for defects before it went out.
Well, whomever the inspector was should have their eyes examined. The new pair looked like WAY worse than the original pair. One shoe looked like that wrinkled up CXL PTB that was posted a couple weeks ago, and the other shoe had the grain issue but in a different spot. Thank goodness I hadn't shipped the original pair back yet because they're at least wearable. I could complain to J Crew again, but I'm happy with the discount and am at peace with the grain thing. While I fault J Crew a bit, once again Alden should have never let the one pair out of the factory.
Anyone else order these and receive a pair where the grain pattern wasn't completely pressed into the leather?
