I am a man of integrity my friend.  While I thought of it, I would never do it.  Someone always ends up paying for that sort of deceit; it's usually the consumer and the wage-service employee. :teach:

These just arrived. Too bad I can't wear them yet with the snow still on the ground outside. Should I be concerned that the laces are tied that close together?

Some would say so, but I wouldn't be too concerned.

Guys I swear they showed up that way. Might helped as the tracking delivery and my call where only minutes apart. I agree that they would look that way after I walked down the street. I just want to be that guy. Also I like them to crease where my foot wants it not there's. It was above and beyond for Jcrew and I recognize that

Not if they fit well in length and in width.

Hi, just a quick question for Alden experts and people in the know: is there an Alden stockist currently stocking or has an open wait-list for the Indy color 8 shell in barrie last? I've read through the related posts with only Alden Madison referenced as the source couple of years ago. Or is this just another one of those Alden unicorns?

On a related note, if the barrie last is a perfect fit (width wise) in my size, for a trubalance lasted Indy, should I size down 1/2 from the barrie to accommodate the additional room around the ball of the foot that the trubalance is known for? Thanks much in advance for any insights.

They feel comfortable. No heel slippage and no discomfort on my toes. It's Hampton last so I went up .5 a size from my Barrie size. I can slide a finger in behind my heel so I'm thinking I could have stuck with my usual 8.5 but that probably would have ended up being tight in the toes. It does feel strange having the laces that close but I figure if it bothers me too much, I can stick a tongue pad in there and that should help the laces spread open a bit more.

Anyone own the congac medallion toe from J Gilbert? Google isn't showing any in the wild photos

I hear you guys on this. The ptb best shows off the sheen and patina of shell. But, I still struggle with christening it as the ultimate Alden shoe. I still think I'd take the 975 as my most useful color 8 shoe. (I still think I have a bias toward more ornamented shoes; I realize that others see it the opposite way, with the simplicity of the ptb making it most versatile). Accordingly, I made sure to have both in the stable.
I would echo your sentiment, except I can't crown the 975 King since Cigar LWB is the real King of Gunboats.

In fact, Cigar LWB is one of only 2 models where a color other than Color 8 reigns supreme (other possible exception being Whiskey LHS).
Others may disagree, and for this, we have multiple Aldens in the stable! icon_gu_b_slayer%5B1%5D.gif

There are precious few models for which color 8 would not be my first choice. Two come to mind, however: LWB (cigar), LHS (whiskey).

Does anyone know of any retailers offering a Snuff PT boot? I really like Context's Snuff Roy Boot but not thrilled about waiting till Sept for it. Also, how durable is Alden suede? I've got different models in shell and CXL and know how well those hold up but haven't owned any suede before.

PSA for those on the JGilbert preorder for snuff wt boots on Barrie: Yenni just emailed to tell me that Alden shipped the order to her today with anticipated delivery on Mon. Sounds like we might have our boots by the end of next week. Yay!
