After a few months of wear my indys have stretched and my pinkie toes deform the leather. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anything I can do? Or will my toe eventually break through the leather.

Also every time I step down the stairs my left boot makes a squeak/whoosh sound. Sort of like air coming out of the boot. Anyone else have this happen to them too?

It's okay...I blame squeaks/whooshes on my shoes too. :embar:

Seriously though, it sounds like those may not be the best size/fit for you.

That's great info Lint, I actually went down to O'Connors and picked up the 403 today. I got word back from Leather Soul and the price of the Ultimate Indy is going to be $575 USD and shipping to Canada is $45. With the brokerage fees that is going to put that boot at around $740 CAD and that is just ridiculous. Was able to grab the 403 for $495 and O'Connors even said they could put a commando sole on it for me when it came time to resole.

My second hand CXL PTB also arrived today so now I am officially part of the Alden family!

Welcome to the Alden family! All seriousness aside, I think you should have gotten the commando soles, as you'll need them for the slippery slope of addiction that you've just begun to traverse :)

All kidding aside, nice acquisitions--very versatile, durable and easy to maintain. Just wait until you get into the shell cordovan business. Bye bye, benjamins...

You shouldn't have even mentioned shell cordovan!!!! Now you did it...

We're all just addicts helping each other out. Or did you mean that we're getting to the point where Alden national policy will ban even the mention of the term shell cordovan? :brick:

Hahaha yeah I am waiting for two pairs specifically to be my first cordovan Aldens. The Leffot No 8 Tanker and a pair of 975 from hopefully a Canadian retailer, though if either of these show up in the marketplace in a 7.5D I might have to seriously consider second hand depending on the condition.

I am really hoping to not see either for at least a few months, my wallet needs a rest from the recent AE shell seconds sale and these new Aldens.

Let me instead focus on non-bannable topics, such as good 'ol Horween chromexcel. I've been so appreciating the UPS folks getting to the office early these days; I haven't had to wait until 5pm for new acquisitions, such as the Harrison Unltd unlined brown cxl chukka. Interestingly, the 8.5D fits a bit more snugly than I had thought a chukka would (the only other one I have is the unlined snuff on Leydon, which I sized up a width for full slipperiness). I imagine the general rule of thumb is that unlined shoes--whether cxl or CENSORED--generally are more snug, although ymmv.

Someone please ask me about my kid's college fund if I post any more acquisitions for 2 weeks. There are 4 pairs that haven't hit pavement yet...

I get a little whooshing in mine too.  The heels fit wider than I'd like, but it's the only way to accommodate my wide feet.  Don't think there's a chance of your toe breaking through the leather unless they're super tight.

If anyone is interested in the LS version of the dark brown CXL Tanker please get in touch with Will at LS ASAP. The weirder your size/width the better. The only way I will get my size 12.5D's made anytime soon is by getting LS to include 6 sizes they wouldn't normally order to an existing order. This includes sizes of 11D and up, and I am assuming weird widths. Not LS's fault, it is of course one of Alden's weird stipulations.

Who needs college when you can have these, right? :embar:

So you're the bastard that stole these from me! patch[1].gif

It's ok. As a consolation I ended up getting the lined version from PelleLine. They should be here tomorrow. I hope they look half as good as yours. I'm a sucker for CXL. I prefer it over shell in a lot of the make ups.

I hope you enjoy yours in good health, V49. If it's any consolation, yours will be more of an all-year shoe, whereas mine will likely only get worn in the spring and summer. (Plus, I had earned some karma points after missing out on the Union Hill Indys last week...). This can only mean you'll stumble on a Ravello plaza indy tomorrow or something :)
