NAMOR, this is a fantastic idea if a burnished kinda sorta maple leaf in late autumn red shoe or boot is what you really want. If you've got heck a-slammin' fat stacks to spare they are many fine cobblers that would ablige your footwear fancy. I know this is called the "Alden" thread, but in actuality it's the "Horween" appreciation thread because of our shared interest in Nick Horween's leather products. As good as his shell cordovan tanning and finishing process is, there are other suppliers of shell cordovan leather. I was thinking of seeing if someone could match the color of my Horween #4 one-piece belt so that I could get a pair of bruogans which would make everyone weep with envy.

I never understand people's hesitation to use Venetian, other than Saphir is more expensive and therefore 'must' be better.

Venetian does an amazing job on shell, +1 in my book.

that's a relief, because there is lots of venetian in the container they sent :)

i've heard that it does great things for cxl.

I love my VSC.  Wish Glenkaren made something like this.

I've heard its good for cxl as well.  I've been using Bick4 on cxl to nice results though because it doesn't change the color.

Did you find that VSC changed the color of your CXL?  Because I really hadn't noticed that on my Nat CXL.

I like VSC as well. I just have a really difficult time trying to get it out of those little bottles when it is in a big clump

I bought the big metal tin of VSC and put some into empty Reno glass jars to use!  :satisfied:

Just to add, I got my Venetian Leather Balm from Viberg the other day and decided to use them on my CXL AE Bayfeilds. They turned out well hydrated and the perfect amount of shine, will continue to use it on my CXL products for sure.

Also just got some Saphir Cordovan cream and liked the results on my RL Lindricks, next time they need some love I am going to try the Venetian on them and see how it compares.

I've heard Nick Horween himself recommend VSC for CXL.

A question on the subject of (what I will call) "insole impression drop" - the significant room that is created within the first wears from you foot on the cork....

Is the drop / "room" created with the single flex sole the same volume as the double leather? I guess what I am asking (which perhaps no one will know is if the layer of liquid cork used is the same thickness on the double leather and the single leathe soles?

I ask because I just picked up a pair if jcrew single flex bluchers and the only Minor niggle is (if I was being rediculously fussy) is I would like to be able pull the lacing a little tighter. : /

I will definitely be keeping then so the answer to the question is that I will find out soon enough.

Yes he does. I read his blog post just yesterday on the subject, but, of course I can't find it now to post the link.
