George contacted me a little while ago and told me he has a sole that just might be what I'm after. Yeah baby, my custom super duty Trench HDs are in the works. LOL! Sounds like a Dodge truck commercial. ROFLMAO!

I want a pair of these in LWB but lack of sizing confidence scares me due to price

What's the difference between this and the standard suede Dover except for the brass eyelets? I have a sand suede one and that's the only difference I can recall.

I still have to come to terms with the fact that I have a pair of snuff AE chukkas unworn, and a pair of these

that are both unworn. another pair of snuff might seem redundant at the moment lol

Same here with a pair of sand suede Dovers and snuff suede unlined Chukkas. Both brand new in the box waiting for the weather to heat up a few months from now so I can start wearing them. Not sure what AE chukkas you have (Amoks or Malverns maybe) but neither one of those worked for my feet so I'm hoping the Alden unlined ones will fit my foot better but won't find out about the Leydon last until I get to wear them outside for an extended period of time.

they seem to fit ok, but havent been tested. paid $99 from AE so a quick flip wont be a problem should I need to

There's no way that isn't a Japanese resole. Holy cow.

edit: whoops, German.

You scored the same deal on the Cordovan Captoe or the Natty Captoe?

These look lined while the standard suede dover is unlined
These are on a double waterlock sole while the standard suede dover is in a single flex waterlock sole

Those two changes would make the Frans Boone shoe a much more structured feeling one

That's the same price I paid for the Amoks right when they were discontinuing them. The problem for me was that my pinky toes were protruding out too much and hanging over the edge of the sole. I just sent them back rather than trying to flip them. For $99 they were a terrific bargain and a much cheaper alternative to the Alden unlined chukkas.

You're right, I should have noticed the soles being different but didn't notice the lining. I actually prefer the unlined with the flex sole since it feels much more flexible and lighter as well. I wish Haberdash would have another sale that might end up applying to Aldens. I couldn't believe the prices I paid for the pairs of shoes I was able to pick up at that time through them.

^ I had the same issue with the Amok and returned them a few years ago when I first got them. I've ha the snuff and tan suede unlined chukkas from Alden since then and I've never looked back. The Amok just felt kinda flimsy and cheap compared to the Alden, and the Aldens felt so much better on my foot, I really like the Leydon last.

i ordered the cordovan captoe ... courtesy of the promo code that you tipped us on (steel28 got the same deal) late last month ... but unlike your experience, my boots are not expected until mid-may

I bought some very nice 975s off eBay last night. I'm really looking forward to getting the mac touch on them.

I have some unlined LHS in #8 that I'm letting go. They are in need of a restoration and I don't want to wait 8 weeks!
