I just started with TSM seconds list. I received the last two emails. Seems to be going fine so far. I also get misc marketing emails from them.

Have a camping trip with my students coming up, brought out the 404 Kudu Indys from storage. These have been through multiple camping trips, broken glass all over bars, a few feet of snow / ice /sleet and normal everyday wear. My first pair of Aldens (damn you Barney's for introducing me at such a great price) and still looks pretty new and lug sole is showing just a little bit of wear. Only care I've down is wipe down and a light coat of neatsfoot oil before putting the boots away. These are probably my best fitting boots as well, fits smaller than my 403 Indys and is literally the best fitting shoe I own with a pair of merino wool hiking socks.

My first ever family photo!

FYI, I built this entire collection, except 3 pairs, during 2012 - I may win the award for most dangerous shoe habit.

Enjoy, and let me know what pair you think I should get next!

Pictured, L to R:

"Immediate Family" (Aldens)

Row 1 -TSM Color 8 LHS, TSM Color 8 LWB, TSM Cigar LWB, Alden SF Ravello LWB
Row 2 - Alden NY Whiskey Monk, Color 8 BB PTB, Black BB PTB, Alden SF Ravello PTB
Row 3 - Alden NY Whiskey Chukka, Epaulet Milkshake Suede Indy, TSM Ravello WT boot

"The Inlaws" (Others)

Row 4 - Lobb Rothley in Green Misty Calf, Lobb 2010 St Crepin in Brown Misty Calf, Lobb Lopez in black, C&J Hallam in black
Row 5 - AE Strand in Walnut, AE Delray in Chili Burnished Calf, Barker Black Crown Loafer in Chestnut, Sasseti (RLPL Denver) in dark brown
Row 6 - Florsheim Ducky Brown Saddle, Paul Smith SWB in gray calf, Mark McNairy Chick Magnet loafer in navy suede

Nice collection!!

Is the leather on Alden's calf offereings cut (shaved) as thick as say the chromexcel or cordovan offerings? I have calf shoes from other shoe companies but don't always love how "thin" the calf feels. I like how robust the cordovan/CXL feels.

I'm not familiar with the chromexel leather, but the leather my calfskin Indy boots are made from feels plenty thick. It's likely that they use varying thickness of leather for different styles of shoes/boots. The leather in these Indy boots feels like proper, burly work boot leather.
