I would probably contact Adam and send him a photo. He should theoretically have more leverage with Alden. If no progress, I would contact Alden directly.

Was wondering if anyone got a chance to see this picture that Leffot loaded onto instagram recently:

One chukka is new, the other is 15 years old. I was just wondering, why does the 15 year old chukka look so worn? I know that its old, and that it will have age and patina, and it still looks good, for its age. But its appears to have creasing and cracking within the rolls of the upper, and looks like it could split open at any given moment. Could this be from poor conditioning or maintenance, or is 15 years just simply pushing the upper limit of lifespan for shoes?

I've seen some photos before of older shells that this, than looked much, much nicer. I know, its hard to say without knowing how often the shoes were worn, how they were cared for, etc...

Worn six times over two years and you didn't notice anything originally?? I'd contact an exterminator to take care of the pack of rats in your closet.

Actually it is not as bad as the picture makes it look like and I only noticed it when I sat down condition them a little.

very cool actually. Lots of cool stores and restaurants. Here for a few days before heading to Paris. Was thinking Iceland would just be a interesting stop on the way but it's a lot more than I expected

They drink like crazy in Iceland!!  Even have an ice bar (mostly for tourists) where the bar, tables and seats are all made of ice.  They give you a parka when you go inside.  Also, great hot springs and geysers.  But man, can they drink!

So who uses toe protectors on double leather Alden .. C&J shoes and boots. I have some that I've sent to B. Nelson for recessed and some with just the cheap plastic type the local cobbler throws on. I am wondering if it is really worth all the fuss in the Long Run. I have some new boots and I might skip it this go around. What do you do if anything? Seems like they might make the toe turn up more than normal wear.

The coolest part is that he has two pairs of tankers. I'd change the welt/sole on the glazed one to dark for the most versaility between the two.

I've been considering doing this for my tankers.

Wondering if any fellow Alden addicts happen to speak Trickers. I'm considering a trigger pull on a boot considered fitting 5. In Barrie lasts, I take an 8.5D (yes, the size that always gets sold out first for grails and special makeups). Would I be a UK 8 or 8.5?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Depends on the Trickers last. Fitting 5 refers to the width nut not the last. I am 8D Barrie and 7.5UK on Trickers 4497
