Great shoes.
I'm related to our pastor, we talk shoes all the time.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

A very close second place for favorite Aldens has to go to my King Brixtons, all eyelets, on antique soles.  Again, with natural light and then artificial indoor light. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) The deeper I get into Aldens, the more I realize that Color 8 is mind-bending in its ability to change color, depth, and overall appearance both in subtle ways and obvious ways (I'm finally realizing what many other wise forum members have stated many times before).  I think the above two photos clearly demonstrate its power.
Awesome looking boots. The depth of #8 is remarkable. I want some brixtons.

Just about perfect - wouldn't mind a bit more width in front and a bit less height in the vamp, but after two days of use they're breaking in pretty nicely. There is some moderate heel-slip, but minimal enough that I know it should go away with break-in. All-in-all these are quite a comfy and devilishy handsome shoe. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif
Good to hear that you are dialing in your sizing! They look great!

Any recommendations on where to purchase nice belts that match Ravello & Whiskey Aldens?

Thank you

AE's walnut calf belt is quite a good match for alden whiskey.

havent attempted to find a match for ravello yet

And although we were asked to pick a single favorite Alden, I will say that my recently acquired King cap toe boots on Grant last and commando soles from Alden DC will have a fighting chance at claiming the top spot on my list in the near future.

Those Brixtons are outstanding. One of the best I've seen!

I just use a medium brown belt... Just wear your shoes when you go shopping from them. I have Alden's Whiskey belt, so can't help there... Maybe Rancourt?

A question I have been thinking about a bit recently since our Canadian $ is quickly tanking. How much of a premium would you pay for a shoe you wanted?

ie. A rarer colour of shell or model/last you have been longing for?

I have the chance to buy a pair that I have long wanted and have not seen in stores but the sellers wants nearly $150 more than what they would sell for in stores.

I haven't pulled the trigger and likely won't, but it is an intriguing question..

Other than Leffot, does anyone know of a shop that carries a Color 8 or Cigar LWB with a waterlock sole? Alden of SF appears to carry calf LWBs on waterlock but I'm really looking for shell. I love the Leffot version with the antique edge but no clue when they'll have them again. FWIW, I asked about the next pre-order and was told they do not have a timeframe as of now. Thanks.

Cigar with a waterloc is going to be near impossible to find. Even #8 with antique is quite a challenge

+1.

Leffot will hopefully do another pre-order sooner than later. I believe they did 2 pre-orders in 2013.

What a shame cigar LWB would finish me off

If you don't have to have a waterloc sole I would suggest calling Adam at AOC. He has had a few pairs of cigars on double leather (I believe) kicking around

Amazing.
I didn't know you had a pair. Another HUGE regret of mine. I didn't make up my mind to call ls till after work, way too slow.
Tough choice, but we need a final answer.
Unrelated note.
I didn't know you considered #4 wing tip boots so high in your list of aldens. I always hoped they would be more of a "flavor of the month" type deal. DAMMIT

The shade of #4 strikes a great balance for me. Love how its a bit darker and redder and than old Ravello.

BUT

My final answer would have to be...............

.......
.......
........
.......
...........

Color 8 NST Boots on the Plaza w/commando soles

Nice choice my friend. Nice choice. nod[1].gif

Before and After of  Alden refinishing

color8 shell that had a bubble develop and then crack and flake the shell under is not black but deep purple.

Looks like they were able to save this pair. Congrats

Any idea what caused the bubbling to begin with?

Was it water?
