I have thought about it for days but can't pick a favorite model from my collection. I just can't.

Top 3, in no order

1. Ravello PTB
2. Color 4 wing tip boot
3. NST Boot on the Plaza

Styles mentioned in this thread:

Thanks.

Not Alden branded, but I have one of these:

^ the best deal I've ever seen on Abbyhorn shoehorns is at Brooks when they go on sale. I remember getting a ~16 incher for around $40.

Put me in too for the ravello PTB on MrDV's list. EDIT: I guess sazon said in no order. For me, though, they are #1.

Amazing.
I didn't know you had a pair. Another HUGE regret of mine. I didn't make up my mind to call ls till after work, way too slow.

Tough choice, but we need a final answer.
Unrelated note.
I didn't know you considered #4 wing tip boots so high in your list of aldens. I always hoped they would be more of a "flavor of the month" type deal. DAMMIT

Bespoken PA, if you're out there...
WHO DAT!!!

Thanks for the detailed explanation!  I must admit that I was slightly lost with all the names...

Length feels fine, but I feel like the width feels a bit tight.  When I stand up, i can see that the my sides are coming out and I can't see the sole because of my feet from the top.

The store told me that I should let wear them and stretch them out (which was similar to my Indys) but trying to make sure of it since they're slightly different in shape.

"Who dat..."  running the ball pretty well thus far.  Good luck...

If they are ever so slightly tight, that might be the way to go.  However, it does not sound like that is the case.  Which retailer?  Many retailers know less about Alden and shell cordovan than those in this thread.  An overwhelming amount of other people will go up .5 size from Indy to Aberdeen, and an overwhelming amount of people will go down .5 from sneakers to Aberdeen.

If they are tight enough that you are here posting about it, I think you need to go either bigger or wider.  If its tight on your pinky toe, more likely than not you need to go longer.  Aberdeen is also unusually narrow in the front.

Also, the material that indys are usually made out of, and shell cordovan are different.  Indies are usually made out of a type of leather that WILL in fact stretch.  Shell cordovan stretches very little if at all.  *We are assuming that your indys aren't shell.
