Seriously, how has no one bought these yet? http://www.styleforum.net/t/374426/alden-for-leffot-ravello-longwings-10-5d/0_100  They look fantastic and seem reasonably priced.

(What I'm really saying is "please, someone else buy these.  They've been up for a while and I'm sorely tempted, while my resolve is slowly failing.")

if they were 11.5D they'd be sitting next to these already (prefer antique sole and shade of the pair you posted)

Hmm is there a similar boot to this but without the speed hooks? I'm just not a fan of speed hooks, thanks!

Pretty standard make:

Most retailers should have something similar

Only Aldens outside of a few pennys I've seen was in Japan, saw maybe 20 pairs. Do remember one pair of ravello ptb that looked amazing, asked the guy where he got it and he said internet, shoemart lol8[1].gif

sadly, i don't have any personal experience with the matter yet, but i think i read every post there is online discussing the relative merits of the bb versus alden shell belts. most people seem to say that the bb belts do seem less hefty. one person said it felt like it stretched if he pulled not even very hard.

i'm curious, how do you think they compare in heft to standard, cheapo $30-40 kenneth-cole-calvin-klein-penguin-nordstrom-rack-marshalls atrocities?

Ummm, I would have bought them in a millisecond if they would fit me. :-)

Suggest that you do us all a favor and buy them, wear them, love and care for them, and share beautiful pics of them for the years to come.

I can speak to Alden shell belts, of which I own two (cigar and whiskey).  While the finishes and hardware are excellent, I don't love the fact that the belts have three panels stitched together in overlapping fashion.  Makes the belt much less sleek and quite a bit bulkier than I'd prefer.  The BB belts, IMO, are thinner and flimsier, and perhaps the other extreme of what the Alden models offer.

good to hear. do you think the alden belts are suitable for everyday wear, or are they too fragile? with the exception of hanover brown shell, i only have color 8/ae burgundy shoes :0 and i would so much rather wear a shell belt than my calfskin burgundy one!

what's the status on alden belts now, anyway--has anybody heard about recent stock at the regular retailers" (i know alden sf used to have a decent stock, but then i heard that dried up)

I am in my 30's as well but would never rock tassels. I love the look but just not my style

Just picked up these BB #8 Cordovan Plain Bluchers for a fairly good price.

They're on a more narrow last than the Barrie (M58) and I like them a lot!

Speaking of spotting Alden in the wild, I've seen a handful of people wearing Alden suede chukkas out and about around Metro Detroit. I'm surprised I've never noticed any Indy Boots in the wild. I figure that it's a distinctive enough makeup, compared to other similar work boot styles, but I don't think I've ever seen somebody wearing them.

Not Alden, but I did notice somebody at Starbucks wearing a pair of Tricker's Stowe boots recently. Until then, I had never seen somebody with a pair of Tricker's around here.

The whole age/tassels thing has come up in this thread many times before, and I think you hit the nail right on the head, Rydenfan.  It is not an issue of age, rather a matter of personal style.  I'm under thirty (barely) and have 3 pairs.  My cigar tassels are probably my favorite pair of Aldens.
