Hmm is there a similar boot to this but without the speed hooks? I'm just not a fan of speed hooks, thanks!

I'm an 11.5 C/D on the Brannock. I suspect the 10.5E wouldn't be the right fit for me. Too bad, that's the shoe. No doubt.

With Leffot, Alden NYC and J Crew all moving plenty of Aldens in NY, we are going to see more and more of them. Of course, Gucci/Ferragamo bit loafers continue to rain supreme.

I routinely see Alden full straps and tassel mocs in shell and calf.  Apparently, the tassels are a staple for 50 or 60-something-year-old partners at law firms.  My boss (not a lawyer) wears Aldens regularly.  He saw one of my "green boxes" on my desk and got really excited.

The only time I have seen Alden's in the wild (not on my feet) is with 1 block of Alden DC or Alden SF. I have yet to see someone else in San Diego wear Alden's. Although I went to a meeting in LA and a guy was wearing Allen Edmonds, but he was on travel from the East Coast. That is the closest I have gotten.

I am 30 and my Tassels is one of my favorite shoes and was my first Alden. Also, when I was 18, I bought a pair of Bostonian (before I knew anything about shoes) Tassels and Shortwings. Moral is that you don't have to be 60 to wear tassels. There is a whole other thread somewhere here on Tassel wearing. :-)

I don't think you were trying to say that Repp, but I had to jump in! BTW, I am jealous that you know a fellow Alden wearer in the flesh.

^^ I'm also in my 30's, dubs, and although I don't have tassels at the moment ...I'd rock them!

I hope not, as I intend to get some blue suede tassels and possibly #8

recent pic on mouldedshoe's page. infuriating to see those (presumably) modified last shells

Seriously, how has no one bought these yet? http://www.styleforum.net/t/374426/alden-for-leffot-ravello-longwings-10-5d/0_100  They look fantastic and seem reasonably priced.

(What I'm really saying is "please, someone else buy these.  They've been up for a while and I'm sorely tempted, while my resolve is slowly failing.")

if they were 11.5D they'd be sitting next to these already (prefer antique sole and shade of the pair you posted)

Pretty standard make:

Most retailers should have something similar

Only Aldens outside of a few pennys I've seen was in Japan, saw maybe 20 pairs. Do remember one pair of ravello ptb that looked amazing, asked the guy where he got it and he said internet, shoemart lol8[1].gif

sadly, i don't have any personal experience with the matter yet, but i think i read every post there is online discussing the relative merits of the bb versus alden shell belts. most people seem to say that the bb belts do seem less hefty. one person said it felt like it stretched if he pulled not even very hard.

i'm curious, how do you think they compare in heft to standard, cheapo $30-40 kenneth-cole-calvin-klein-penguin-nordstrom-rack-marshalls atrocities?
