I have to add Yenni at JGilbert as being great to work with.

You know, that could be a good call.  I wanted the crepe sole purely for comfort and I have the LWB on the leather sole and it's definitely not as comfortable as the crepe.  How is the flex sole?  Is that the same thing?

Basically, I want a chukka as a replacement for sneakers.

Thanks roguls, I suspect you're correct. The haziness disappears with the damp cloth. It just returns as soon as I start wearing them again. I'll wipe and brush and hope it helps.

Just an FYI, Alden San Francisco has a pair of whiskey ptb's in size 8.5D in stock. They are a great shade of whiskey and someone should be quite happy with them.

Hope someone benefits from this info!

Tif, you should try to get to a store to try them on.

I would suggest an 8.5D to you, but you wouldn't know until you try.

Thank you kindly my friend!

I have the same haziness issue with my color 8 LWBs.  I applied Saphyr Cordovan creme a couple of years ago and it has never been the same.  Still looks good, but not like my other color 8 shoes.

Awesome shoes.  BTW, that website is fantastic!  I love the descriptions of who bought the shoes on display...  "SOLD to an Italian gentleman"  "reserved for Mr. H.D., South Africa"

Dear Friends,

My Whiskey (old Ravello) PTBs have finally arrived!  I looked them over twice and they are in fact my size! :D  This was a really small run (12 pairs) at Alden SF and I was very lucky that they had one in my size.  Here are a few pics right out of the box.

And another pic next to their Ravello (old cigar) LWB brother.

I can't wait for Whiskey Wednesday!  Happy New Year everyone!
